Other than high refresh rate, this monitor only has disadvantages compared to a 4k tv.

 

There is no reason other than competitive gaming that anyone should buy this over a tv.

Yup, agree. 1080p .. absolutly pointless.

The fact samsung thought they should do this says alot. its almost as bad as them still forcing LCD crap into the market.(along with 'most' other TV/Monitor manufactures)

How much longer is 1080p going to be a thing. MOVE ON!

If this was 1440 atleast (pref 2160p), had high density FALD, the fake QLED tech samsung use to improve contrast, and GSync ..then i would be interested.

Always been a fan of super ultrawide. I would buy this thing but with PBP/PIP i could get 2x1080p monitors out of it. I have been spoiled by 3 monitors sadly.

I have used wide monitores once, but only to simulate two 1280*1024 Screens on one, because the medical I was the operator of, was optimized for that. It couldn't handel 1080p in mid 2017.

But the hight of resolution is the main problem with all modern monitors. They are all wide.

I had most screens with 1920x1200 for the most time and at the moment I chane it to 2560x1600.

Most programms I use running better on 16:10 then on 16:9 or smaller.

I was willing to buy one of these when I played a few games at the Microsoft Store. Unfortunately they were out of stock and didn't know when more would come in and couldn't offer shipping for it. I loved it, but I would have loved to see it be 1200 (32:10) rather than 1080 (32:9). I still plan on buying some when they add G-Sync since the one I played with was maxing out a 1080 at only 48Hz on Battlefront 2 (high details).

 

This would be the only thing I'd trade my triple setup for since ultrawide feels too confined after playing 48:9 triple monitors for nearly seven years.

but it makes me wonder, how would you measure curved monitor, would need a couple people to press tape measure up to monitor

I'd love to see a video covering the HDaRen't monitors

I was recently looking at the Acer 37.5" which is now advertising its HDR all the sudden with new specification with No chance in Model number, so its been very difficult to source what model your actually getting when making a purchase and very frustrating.

 

So stuff like this would love to have a more consumer friendly look at what HDR is, what the standards are, what to look for, what Manufacturers SHOULD be showing so we know what we're getting buying spending Extra money to buy a HDR monitor, and not just being ripped off.

I think it will be good for productivity . you can put multiple stuff side by side , but maybe buying regular ultra wide is cheaper and can get 2 of the price of this one ?

This monitor would better suited for productivity work, for which 1080 is usually plenty (photo and movie editing may be an exception. It beats having to stare at bezels right in front of you when using two monitors. One could easily have three windows running side by side without cropping on the sides of the content. The only real issue is the price (and, for some, that isn't an issue). I have yet to read a review by an actual owner of one of these babies that didn't like it.

 

I'm just waiting to see some clown (Linus?) run one or more of these in portrait.

This is an interesting product for some people, but for pragmatists who want their big toys to do more than just one thing, it's hard to justify. 

 

As a movie/video display, this is terrible because you can't watch native UHD or even 1440p, while 1080p videos have side black bars.

 

As a general usage monitor, I'm always going to consider this to be a half UHD display rather than as a double 1080p since both types are cheaper, and UHD has far more pixels to work with. It's a matter of perspective, but this glass is half empty for me.

 

Having said that, I wouldn't mind this for just racing games if I were rich and could justify it. Unsure I'd want it for PubG or a shooter since it would be impossible for my eyes to catch enemies in the peripheries anyway.
