15 inch laptop for college

If you are going to just put linux on it anyways go with a mac. It really depends on if you want newer hardware at the cost of adapters or actual ports. I would also suggest trying to wait since they are releasing new macbooks this June.

Hi guys,

I need a good 15 inch laptop, i am choosing between the 2015 retina macbook pro 15 inch, the new one with the touchbar or the xps 15.

I need it with a i7 cpu, 16GB of ram and 512 GB ssd.

I want a unix based system, if I get the dell, I will install Linux on it.

Can you help me to decide?

I've been looking for one too, as I'm headed to college in 4 months. I have two picked out, but this one out of them both has your SSD size requirement: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16834154702

It's also got a killer GTX 1060 if you're into that, but if it's more for just the CPU power I can look into a few other things too. A Mac can be worse than a PC for two main reasons (in laptops anyway), where you have less ports on the Chassis itself and the potentially WAY higher pricetag (Depending on where you look,) but you'll always get that gaurantee Apple quality and warranty service. So that's all up to you. I'd recommend a PC with Linux for ya, but just make sure it's a very good brand, such as Acer, MSI, or Razer.

Do you have a price limit?

Look into a lunchbox PC. All the portability (more or less) of a laptop with the expand-ability and power of a desktop. Best of both worlds, if you've got the dosh for it.

So rise up, all ye lost ones, as one, we'll claw the clouds

It's alright! You can call it University or College. Just make sure you spell it "College" not "Collage."

As for your laptop, you shouldn't need much graphical processing power, so I'd recommend one of these:

But of course, you can always get a Macbook if you prefer Mac OS. It's all up to you. That's just what I'd recommend if you go for a Windows/Linux PC.

He could get one of the ryzen APU laptops just for a little graphical performance
