I've bought one of these with an 860 Evo. It's worth mentioning that I and another person who made a review have found that the 850 and 860 ssds do not fit in the enclosure. I had to file down the "ledge" that the m.2 board sits on so the space in between them is big enough. It only needed about 0.5mm each side, but just for people to be aware.

Oh boy.. The static/hisssss sound on this video.. Is it YouTube's compression or is it something to do with how LMG does audio? Somehow this video was a bigger pain to listen to because of this hiss in the background.. I'd really like to know what's causing this?

One of the recent TQ videos also has the same hiss like sound in the background, hadn't noticed it in any prior videos, maybe a new editor who hasn't cleaned the audio? :P

Edit - not a hiss, but definitely something interfering in the back, almost sounds like a PC running lol

Thank you for reviewing something that I ACTUALLY OWN after doing some homework on it.

I use mine with a 1TB 850 EVO. Basically I wanted a huge thumb drive for transporting backups without paying the Kingston Tax on their Ultimate GT USB drive. And while I do like the external SSD drives, they're just not as pocketable as this Silverstone enclosure.

Bonus too is that I can upgrade the drive if it ever dies, or swap to higher capacity when the M.2 price falls. Can't do that with the others!

Overall I gotta say I'm very happy with how it works, The plug clearance issues don't really matter as I have a small USB extension from another project that I can use. This device is really worth it's price, and a no-brainer if you happen to have a spare sata M.2 lying around.

At least this noise of some device running is bearable.

I wonder if it is due to the fact that they record audio as the video is shot, i.e. no voiceovers or dubbing. But iJustine's videos, for one, don't seem to have any background noise! I'm sure people at LMG are equally as competent, if not better skilled and equipped than the folks working with her.

I also think it could be down to the busy upload schedule here. Maybe there's simply not enough time to clean up the audio and it is not considered a priority. I just can't sleep without knowing what's causing this xD

Does anyone review those videos before publishing? It is so badly cut that I have no idea what is the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT read speed... or any other drive really.

At 6:45 Linus says it has 360MB/s read speed, at 6:57 on the splash screen has 138MB/s, at 9:17 the very same drive has 265MB/s. How can I trust numbers for any drive if there are clearly random numbers put in boxes?

I know you are making entertainment videos, I don't expect any advanced knowledge form you, but at least you could keep your videos consistent. I feel there is too little effort put there.

Boot drives read many many small files, so random read and IOPS are far more important. USB isn't ideal for such tasks compared to other protocols, although a good modern USB external SSD (such as the one tested in the video) generally does pretty well, just maybe not as well as internal storage.
