1k build challenge

hello guys,

the nephew of my mate wants a pc for his birthday on the 3rd april, his mum granted a budget of 1k, maybe 50 bucks more but thats it

the target is getting into gaming ;)

thats what i picked so far ( WLAN is needed, he´s not allowed to "wire" through the house )

no need for any fancy stuff, it needs to be price/performance > aesthetics

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/qHDbvn

the first title to be played is overwatch

thanks in advance for you suggestions and build plans

would be great to see some builds for both teams intel and amd

edit:location is germany and currency euro

thanks in advance

Without knowing the currency, and without knowing the type of games you guys want to play.

We can only make guesses.

You could just buy a Ryzen 1600 cpu and an AB350 mobo, with 8GB of ram and a Corsair CX450(2017) psu and a 7200 1TB hdd with a 500GB ssd and whatever case you want.

Interesting twist

So Euro's it is then

1k euro is about 1250usd which is more then enough for a good pc

Here is one I have laying around in PCPARTSPICKER

1. Stick with Intel, if its only for gaming the i5 is better with it

2. If you're going with AMD, get faster ram.

3. Dont get a $25 case

4. Dont get a m.2 ssd, its useless.

5. Dont buy GPUs new unless its a 1070ti founders edition. Get a 980ti locally and get better performances for cheaper or around the same price

Anything over 2600 is fine, a slight boost with 3200 but not much.

The m.2 was based on price per gb and it saved space and the fact is was blue, there was the same priced unit in 2.5" formfactor.

I think the OP's $250 3GB 1060 would be fine.

Buying it from eBay can give you a 30-day return policy (not sure about the time)

If you buy it normally you'd be wasting around $100-$150 if thats fine with you.

Sure, but you're still paying a lot extra and that VRAM wont cut it for a bit.

here a good build for about 1080 euros, if you want to cut price then get a cheaper and smaller hard drive.

edit: didnt see that that was a 5400 rpm hard drive, dont buy

edit 2: hdd error fixed

If you do go for an eBay GPU, I'd get at the very least a 980, if not a 980ti.

For 1k in today's market that's pretty good. He could also upgrade it later with more ram and a better video card. If you wait about 1-2 months the prices will prob drop though
