Had these on all my rigs with more than one GPU.

 

There was an update to the Code for Core22 yesterday. Usually this is transparent and when loading a WU utilizing the updated core the rig will simply just download the new core. However, if you have multiple GPUs and other GPUs are still using the old core file the first system will stall at "Upating Core" until all the other slots finish.

 

My solution was to pause all the slots then un-pause the slot stuck at "Updating Core" which allowed the core to update and I then was able to un-pause the rest of the cores.

 

In this case it worked but in cases where the core update is more complex it could result in the other WUs which were still in progress dumping.

i ran one work unit on each core and i'm glad to say they didn't trip up over anything. the card itself is still a bit of a WIP because i'm trying to work out if there's any appreciable performance difference between letting the card run the pumps and running them off of an external 12v source (the card didn't drive it's fan at 12v even when it was overheating and the pumps come off that same header on the PCB).

Not these chromax ones apparently.  Nothing in the box but the fan and some rubber pads!

 

Its fine though, thing has been running non stop CPU and GPU WU for a couple hours and is maxing out at 76 C on both CPU and GPU.  Ill take it!  (it does bug me not having it there though, just doesnt look right!)

Looked up that project ID on the weird WU I had the other day.

 

I think it was a beta WU.  For the "coronavirus moonshot" project or something like that.  Dunno if it is just a different kind of WU, but took FOREVER to complete (5 hours!) and got almost no points for it  lol.  GPU never could use more than 60% power.  So weird.

 

BUT what if that moonshot finds the perfect protein?!

What the heck are you lot being served?!  I think the largest WUs I've found so far have been the 20-50k range with the longest I recall being maybe 5 hours. 300k credit and nearly 16 hours there!

I believe it was 14364.  Cant remember exact wording but something something moonshot.

 

It seemed like it legit wasnt meant for a GPU, and wasnt able to actually use the GPU power.  So it took all night basically lol

Got the same one for my 2070S, seems to be much more optimised for TU104 than TU106.

This is my watercooled 1080

 

 

But damn is it hot, almost 60C, it usually runs about 50-54C while folding, it's a relatively cool night too... Hmm...

 

Looks like I gotta go actually check the thing... sigh

Just an air-cooled card over here, running at 59C, but in a colder than usual room. 

 

It's not even using more than 80% of the power draw, which confuses me for such a hefty WU

both of mine are mid to upper 60s i had fans turned down to lower the noise level and seems the carbide 600 sucks for airflow/air management...which may explain why they killed it. the thermals where better with lower noise in my Blue chassis...but I WILL make it work lol...

See this thread. TLDR: 13400 is still in Beta and the current discussion is whether to restrict it to just Linux as there seems to be some Windows issues in the new Core22 this uses.

 

Please don't dump them as they are trying to figure out if the Windows issues can be fixed.

I don't ever dump a WU. I run beta mostly because I run a range of cards, 900, 10 and 20 series cards.

 

Gotta be some good data there.

And that's why I'm sticking to Advanced thanks. Never been a fan of beta testing.
