this is 2 xeons, a 2080Ti and a 750Ti folding... i really hope we get some more WU's soon or i'll just shut my systems off untill i can get some again. having a 2080Ti sitting idle 24/7 is just not worth it. I'd rather swap it into my personal rig and use it to game fom time to time. atleast then it's doing something.

Are you sure you entered your passkey on those systems (and your QRB is active)?

Because that looks lower than what 2 of my r9 380x can do hourly.

that system has been folding for almost a year with no problems. first with 2 R9 290's, then 2 1070's and now a 2080Ti. never had problems like this before.

Recently I feel like I've been getting non-stop CPU WU but sometimes I don't get a GPU WU for a couple of hours after the last one has finished

i have flags set for advanced WU's and put the percentile down to 90 to start searching earlier into the process for WU's. still no luck.

the 2080Ti gets about 1 WU per day now.

Those are a bit odd numbers you got there... Maybe they disabled your QRB IF you went below 80% success rate?

Can't you just plug the fans into fan headers on the motherboard and control them via the utility from the motherboard vendor or, worst case, in the BIOS?.

You should still be able to leave the fans RGB headers connected to the Commander Pro so it can do the Rainbow Puke thing. 🌈🦄🤮

Trying to keep the rainbow puke in check, normally it's just running some lowest brightness single colours, but can make it full on rainbow puke since there are a few Corsair products in there 🤣

I was originally using the motherboard fan headers and ASUS does have control software, unfortunately I'll be adding more fans soon so the commander having the ability to control 6 fans with curves is nice, I could also use y-splitters but depending on the device some of them do weird things in reporting. From what I heard the standard is to send fan 1's RPMs but some send each in sequence which can get very confusing to any control software :(

Have you tried fully uninstalling iCue and installing newest version? Or even downgrading to older version if newest doesn't work for you?

I've had a hell of a lot of problems with iCue (even RMA-ed one mouse that was broken by software), but I can tell you that newest firmware is actually A LITTLE bit better (still far away from perfect or good).

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I haven't tried downgrading yet. I've also tried force upgrading the firmware on the Commander Pro, which stabilized the fans even showing on the PWM control and for some reason they were always there for RGB control (Corsair has their priorities in pretty colour land?)

Funny enough it seems like killing the iCue services causes the fans to ramp down. Granted the loudest fans for now are the videocard fans, I'm wondering if I should disassemble, clean and see if thermal paste is dead on them. Also a bit more airflow would help them.

so reapplying paste it is working my ASUS is now folding at 66-67C with the MSI Folding at 66c so dropped temps considerably.  it looks like they used some nasty dry and cracking thermal paste on the asus. replaced with the Noctua NT-H2.

That about lines up with my experience and probably again when I get around to doing that on my other card. Definitely worth doing if you are experiencing high temps and airflow is only part of the equation.  Definitely try to keep the temps lower on average as I do definitely believe (haven't run into evidence so far) that the hotter the paste runs the shorter its expected life.  Good choice on the paste too!

I mean higher heat generally speeds up most chemical reactions, and seeing as 'ageing' for any product, be that wine or thermal paste is simply a set of chemical reactions higher temps would lead to faster ageing IMO. Common sense really.

But also the quality of the paste in the beginning and it's designed lifespan will play a role in it too.

Yeah that was my thinking on all points.  There may be exceptions (to an extent) to that, like with liquid metal TIM, but generally that yes.

yeah and i aint brave enough for liquid metal lol...too risky...especially with the Noctua past dropping the avg of 10c i think its saferr and just as good if i waned the best drop would have gone to the Thermal Grizzle Kryonaut...but for price per application its outragious. i bought some some time ago and used it and wasnt as impressed with the drops as i have been with the NT-H1 and Now NT-H2 which is all i buy...i tend to buy 2x 3.5grams when i buy them mostly so one tube is fresh and unopened till needed as i have seen the paste start to dry some if i fail to seal the tube tightly so dont want to waste compound...

NT-H2 i paid $12 for 3.5grams vs

Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut $8-15 for...1 Gram or $21 for 5.5.

A beefy (externally powered) 3kRPM fan pushing airflow around 180 m3/h

Inner Fan is a Noctua NF-F12 airflow ~93 m3/h.

Third Fan is the stock Cooler Master single rad water pump fan.

Dropped my temps on the I7 9700k from high 60C to 50CHigh 50s.

Waiting on a cooling upgrade, and the excuse to mod the front of my case.

Try downgrading (but before that fully uninstall your iCue (delete all files too by searching for them in explorer)).

When you stop iCue, all fans ramp up and colors go to hardware default (something you can now change for the first time with newest update of iCue).

update on my WU problems:

i deleted the CPU slot and somehow both GPU's have now been getting back to back WU's.

not sure how this could be affecting it tho. i had 20 threads active of the 32 available on the CPU's, so a total of 6 cores free, 2 for the GPU's and 4 for the OS.

does ayone have any input on what happened here?

oof don't do that to your fans you can hurt them. high 60 is perfectly okay.

no worries the other two fans are still functioning at normal RPM, the chonk fan on the outside of the case doesn't have perfect suction to the case causing random or higher than normal ramps in RPM to the two inner fans. I need this on this rig because I game as well as run at full power on F@H ha. I've a corsair dbl rad 140mm on the way with 2 more Noctua A14  fans on the way next week sometime. Then this cooler is going on the R7 2700X.

... I could also use y-splitters but depending on the device some of them do weird things in reporting. From what I heard the standard is to send fan 1's RPMs but some send each in sequence which can get very confusing to any control software :(

If you look closely you'll see that on any Y splitter pin3 (the tachometer input as opposed to 1 & 2 (12v & Ground or pin 4 (PWM)) is only connected to one fan. If more than one fan-side had pin 3 connected either remove the pin from all but one connector or throw it out.

The other pins are all outputs from the motherboard and so can be split multiple times the only consideration being the per-header Amperage available on the motherboard, typically 1-1.5A (12W-18W) for regular Fan Headers and 2-4A (24-48W) for "High Current" or "Pump" headers. There also is sometimes a max per motherboard rating for all the Fan Headers combined but that is becoming less common with the proliferation of AIOs etc.

The fans and voltage sensors are all driven by a Super I/O chip (or chips for systems with more than 5 or so fan headers) and these generally set the per-board and per-header current limits for fans. High Current headers require an extra transistor on the board to extend the available current so it isn't sourced through the Super I/O chip.
