I just realized you were also possibly asking how we were doing in general, not just in terms of folding. Doy. I'm doing ok. Seen better days

I think I'm getting closer to a solution. I'll try some more stuff this week before giving up and trying the AMD card as a display out. I guess when I had it working before I was running a driver that wasn't busted.

Anyone remember which driver version was the first with the big CUDA improvements for folding? I think it was released around the start of October?

Oof, output has taken a hit

Sold my 3080 XC3 Ultra and a 3070 XC3 Black.

Inbound and arriving on Sat and Tues are 2 x 3070 XC3 Ultra's and a 3080 FTW3 Ultra

Production will ramp up significantly in the next few days.

Config will be 3x 3070 XC3 Ultras and a 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Should be good for 15-16 million PPD.

Rightyo, almost back up to full force.

3 x 3070 XC3 Ultra's currently doing duty. 3080 FTW3 being installed tomorrow.

Ok, finally got my 3080 as well so all is good in Folding land for me.

I do have a question for the knowledgable.

I have the following config

2 x EVGA 3070 XC3 Ultras

Asrock X570M Pro4 board

2x8GB ram

NVMe to PCIe 16x riser

Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black cooler with both fans running

The cards individually should hit around 3.5million PPD but the three of them together report 7-8 million PPD with 2 getting around 3 million and one just 1.5 million.

Am I missing something or should I wait a few days for things to stabilise?

Power should be sufficient with a Seasonic 850 watt Gold, all cards are set to 90% power target

2 are running at PCIe x4 4.0 and one is running at PCIe x16 4.0

Interesting, I have swapped the cards around and it appears the card on the NVME slot is always the slow one in fact WU's fail and it uploads partials then re-downloads a new one.

I have set all cards to defaults with Precision X1 as well.

You running the NVMe to x16 riser at Gen 3 or 4?

Automatically detects Gen4 which is exactly how it was in my last X570 and it worked fine.

Should I try change to gen3?

This is the problem child

Thanks GOT, seems I just picked a really bad board. The BIOS is awful, I cannot change PCIe versions by the looks of things. Another oddity is when I open GPUz it initially says @ x16 1.1 then after a few seconds it changes to @ x16 4.0. This happens to both slots with the second one @ x4 1.1 then a few seconds later @ x4 4.0

Can you advise on an AMD board I can use for 3 cards without having to use a riser? I looked around but couldn't find anything suitable for 2.2 slot cards.

Alternatively I will just have to try another mATX board with the same slot spacing and the same riser again.

Unfortunately my knowledge of new motherboards is very sparse.

I hope someone here can give you a hand though. For me though higher end Gigabyte/Aorus boards have been my go to generally speaking so far. But please do your own research and get advice from people more in the know than me. :)

The thing is that there aren't really any PCIe 4 risers yet, so anything you get is known good for gen3 but may be hit or miss (most likely miss) for gen4.

So wait for a riser or sell 3x 3070's and buy 2x 3080's ;)

Probably easier to sell the mobo and get a decent one with proper settings :P

Yes,

You likely don’t need a new motherboard just to find where as rock has hidden the setting. Perhaps the Advanced/AMD PBS menu?

A BIOS update might be necessary.

How about those new moonshot WUs, huh? I was usually at around 14-16 WU/d until about ten days ago. Now, I'm at about 9/day with each one taking about twice is long... but about 200k MORE POINTS PER DAY (on the the good days)! They be crazy 😜

I set everything in the BIOS to 3.0, weird thing is the NVMe riser and the second x16 slot still reported 4.0

I really think this is just a shitty board with a bad BIOS and no real control.

3x 3070's = 6 million PPD

2x 3070's = 6.4 million PPD

I checked power as well and each card is using less than 200 watts max so I doubt I have a power issue. I'm using an 850 watt Seasonic Prime Gold.

3x 200 watts for each GPU

65 watts for CPU

Board, SSD, cooler, Ram = Max 150 watts

Max just over 800 and the Seasonic should be able to deliver that all day easily

The 3070's could be spiking in power at times. My 3080 has spiked over 400 watts. Check the PCIe bandwidth use in HWMonitor.
