Vega56 here working fine BUT I run the memory -50mhz for folding and the core -10mhz from the 1590 it runs out of the box with a 1080mv core. In reality the core ends up avging around 1050mhz and 1040mv over long term folding but the memory does in fact run at 750mhz vs the stock 800. At 800 it would fail out WU's pretty regularly for some reason and there's not really memory voltage controls that actually work on Vega despite what software may show.

Thanks, everyone. I ran Heaven and Superposition for a couple of hours without any issue.
In the end, it was F@H. The client got stuck somehow, simply killing it from task manager solved the issue.
Dealing with a dead gpu now would have been ... less than ideal, to say the least.

How low can you go with Power Limits without losing efficency?

The answer appears to be - All the way.

Here I'm transitioning from 80% FE Power Limits to the GPUs minimum:

All_Eff_Min.thumb.png.2c1322702383ce34056bd6b8124ee36b.pngTotal_PPD_Min.thumb.png.f16d2bcc46f9965416e4322389840040.pngAll_Pwr_Min.thumb.png.09109dcf1120208d7f57f6dcc8ca4955.png

All_PPD_Min.thumb.png.3dbdbada75b2989234f6c2f1bb63d240.png

So a further 27% reduction in power for only a 12% reduction in PPD. I'm going to let this run for a while but so far no issues.

On 4 of my 2080 Super, I cannot go lower than 48% PL. @ 100-112% PL they do 3-3.1M, @ 50-100% PL they do 2.5-2.9M
Once I go below 48% PL core clock drops from 1650 (50% PL) down to 1200-1400 CC, which drops PPD down to 1.7-2.1M.
Lowest I can go is 42% PL on these cards and it drops down CC to 900-1050 and I haven't tested PPD but I'd say 1.2-1.7M.

Are you adding a modest overclock - +50-75?

Im using +50

Yeah, forgot to mention, I am using + 20-60 CC and +100-300 MC depending on card and it's performance (read: stability) in benchmarks, mining and F@H.

with perfect timing, I am upgrading the 24/7 folder from EVGA 1660ti to FTW3 3080.  Should be a, noticeable, increase :)

Would have been nice to be able to get one at the BEGINNING of folding month, but whatchagonnado?

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar

With the folding month over I thought I'd be climbing back of the LTT leader board but here come all these 3080's and 3090's now. I can't run the Vega56 forever and the 1650 is going bye bye in a little bit. Back down to ~700,000 PPD will I even be treading water anymore on the leader board? I remember just in MARCH when 2M PPD was pretty good.

It is impressive with current production at:

  • 011 Members >10 MPPD
  • 037 Members >05 MPPD
  • 242 Members >02 MPPD

but I expect things to slow down a bit with the end of folding month and people seeing their Electricity Bills 😱

I'd love to use X1 instead of afterburner, but X1 won't load. The logo comes up, then disappears. Nothing else. I have the steam version, and tried the standalone installation. It's probably down to the amount of GPU's in my system, I guess.

At least I got a free achievement.

Edit,

This is the highest update in my system's history. Just shows how hard I'm pushing.

Arrgh. p17311 is messing up my attempts to benchmark folding performance. It is consistently about 20-22% under the PPD for moonshot WUs. It is huge, with over 207,000 atoms, but appears to have gone straight into FaH without going through Beta first where an adjustment might have been noted.

@LazyDevafterburner also has this skin which i prefer tbh

I didn't even bother with those skins... until now. Trying to eek out a little more with the 3080. No difference with overclocking the core or memory. Set the power limit to 109%, card doesn't want to go over 99% on average. Guess something has been tamed down. The GPU did have a firmware update from the factory available, and was installed. I chose to do this as the 3080's were known to black screen to the desktop in gaming.

@cbigfootYou have to challenge me to get more PPD! I'm aiming to get 100M points per week, which I think is around 14.3M PPD.

My new PSU is getting delivered today. An AX1600I. The HX1000I that I have, according to online sources, has bad ripple (10mv) under full load. Not good when I have £2K worth of hardware plugged into this thing. Won't be able to install it today, as the system requires a complete re wire, and won't have the time due to my job. Tomorrow it is.

Edit,

It's getting delivered within a couple of hours. Might get it done today.

Looks like my Palit 3080 doesn't overclock well, or at least, the results of the overclock isn't showing. +4% increased performance for +60mhz on the core isn't worth the effort or risk.

My new PSU was delivered today. This is to replace the Corsair HX1000I and the Evga 550 GM.

20201123_101432.thumb.jpg.08aa2adb01608bb5f64f5dc7ddfd0d97.jpg

Will have to install this tomorrow due to work. I will say, this thing is a beast in terms of the box weight. It's dam heavy. I had to choose an upgrade to the HX1000I, as cables could be interchangeable. This will reduce the overall cost of the upgrade. Once this is installed, I can install the sixth GPU, the GTX 1070.

Question, "Should" I leave the HX1000i installed in this system? :D

So funny. Almost forgot to laugh

The failed overclock makes me think that the CPU might be at fault.. Only time will tell. I have updated my bios, so my system is ready for the 5K series.

dont  blame me for you doing 11-14m ppd lol im doing ~4mppd lol l need NVidia to make 2 3080s available to me then i will push you..i cant afford to run the way i was running with CPUS galore and the Rx580s they are longer efficient enough to run F@h wen you count PPD vs wattage vs what the 2060 can do.

Interestingly, the 3080 using 4 lanes on PCI gen 4, hasn't even touched 10% of the bandwidth.

The 3080's will average out at around 4.5M ppd, providing you don't have a desktop to render on them. Depending on the work unit, this can be pushed up to 5.1M, but only in a blue moon. I wonder if the single core performance of the CPU would make a difference.
