Starting January 1st, 2021, we will be handing out awards based on new higher folding badge thresholds. These new values have been decided due to the increase of power a GPU can provide; this has made it much easier to achieve badges in recent years. Anyone holding a current badge will be grandfathered in! This means you won't have your badge downgraded after the new thresholds come into effect.    F@H Badge Thresholds In order to be rewarded with the Folding @ Home badge, please

F@H science question:  Are atom counts per project "easily" malleable?  Are projects pretty inflexible on how many atoms they involve, or, generally, can they be scaled on-demand?  I'm curious if the under-utilization of 2080s and higher is a problem that can be fixed with time, or are we stuck with "low" atom counts because that is how physics works.

afaik the atom count is tailored towards making the WU's workable on most systems. that's why with large atom count moonshot WU's we saw pretty dramatic PPD increase on high power cards.

this is me recalling past discussion threads tough, don't quote me on this.

Can confirm, my 60% power limited card is about 1.1M PPD, up from 950k

Works fine for me but I suspect your running Windows. With older Nvidia drivers (440.?) my systems Just started using the new cores on their own.

 

Just to be safe I ran upgrades on all 5 systems and picked up the latest Linux driver 450.66. After the upgrade the total is more or less the same as before ~20MPPD at 60-75% power limits or ~10MPPD as I’m only folding 12 hours per day during the cheap electricity hours.

Wow cuda couldn't have come at a better time, my Asrock board finally arrived so I can finally run 2 GPUs on one board with air cooling. Dat PPD tho o.o

Might be worth you folks disabling the "force P2 state" for compute tasks, even if you're running a power limited setup it may net you more points for having that higher memory bandwidth available. these units must be doing a fair bit of reads/writes

And how would we go about doing such a thing? (I have no idea honestly)

so far my dual 2080 rig is about 5 degrees warmer than usual. and that's on 75 percent power target!

Yeah, I do think temps are a bit higher, but I don't think I've ever seen 3.2 ppd on my 2080 super before 👍
