looks like today's going to be the day folks, 1bn points. only taken me 5 total years and about 1 year of proper effort to get there.

once that counter ticks over i'll be on hiatus for a while, as i've got a new hole to crawl into (oo-err missus?) and i should probably start cleaning things down and packing them up in preparation for that.

i'll stick around on the forums, but the likelihood is i might not restart folding in earnest until september or december, one of those two, it all depends on how well my current wages will support me in this new place and whether i may have to wait until my pay rise comes in to continue doing this. hey at least the place has electric heating so i can probably use FAH to ofset my actual heating bill a bit.

it's been a pleasure lads (and ladettes, it's 2020, we're inclusive).

That's mighty impressive, man.

I wonder how long it will take before 1 billion points becomes commonplace. With the rate of advance of graphic cards, another 3 years or so before a dedicated folder with a single high end card can cross it within 1 year's time?

0, a 2080Ti will already do 1bn in less than a year if it runs 24/7.

Does the PCI bandwidth requirement for a GPU WU scale with card speed?  I'm assuming "yes", but I wasn't sure.

Hello everyone,

Are many of youhad to deal theses days with project 169XX? This series of WU seems to take full clock of my RX5700XT, temps is around 5 degrees less then my average, and the PPD on it is Abysmal.

I get under 600 000 (and less) ppd comapred to 1.3 M ppd normally. I'm tempted to remove the advanced tag , last few days it really ampered my production, each unit taking 4 + hours.
No talk on that project on the official forums, beside the announcement of it being pushed to advanced two days ago.

PS: Yesterday I 've set the slider to COVID, but I've start getting back theses Units in the evening/ nigh)

Good news!!! I have excaped from hospital and according to the experts I am not going to die anytime soon ( at least not from cancer). After a full review of all scans and test results from the expert neurologists at salford royal it would seem I did not infact have any new brain turmors but the damage and swelling was a result of the last lot of radiation treament i had back in March so it is now just a case of getting the swelling under control and stopping any new seizures from happening which can be done with meds while I am at home.  😀

Yeah, but it's neither 'common' to see a folder with a 2080Ti nor one who runs their machine 24/7, through all 365 days. From what I saw of the EOC boards, only 850 or so people have crossed/are about to cross the billion point threshold.

These work units are researching cancers and are extremely low atom count projects. We are talking 2,500 up to around 15,000. This means that they will fail to fully utilise most modern GPUs, forget about 'big GPUs' like 5700XT and similar team green cards. Now I imagine if you had older GPUs such as HD 5000 series or are running a very low end CPU (1030) you wouldn't see as big of a reduction, if at all of your PPD.

13416 is in itself a Moonshot WU. The moonshot WUs are highly variable due to the nature of the work that is being done, some give you a crazy high production, some, much less so.

What are your NVMe M.2 temps. ?

I have been checking over my folding system for any problems that might have cropped up during my absence and noticed that Samsung Magician is reporting my NVMe drive temp. as high at 52C. Do you think that this is something I might need to take a look at on a system that is running 24/7 or should it be OK at this kind of Temp. ?

I've seen all my nvmes run around 50c naked, within reasonable operating temp. As long as you don't pick up a bottom tier drive with terribad endurance you should be fine. Used the motherboard heatsink on my latest boot drive upgrade and load temps dropped to 37c but no noticeable change in performance.

So would your average daily PPD be around 3.5-ish maybe?

^Either way, those are great numbers. I'm doing my best to be patient for Ampere... But who really knows when that's arriving, especially here in NZ. The 20-25% covid price bump on 2080 TI's here is currently what's protecting my bank account 😭

Just over 2 mil on a day that has lots of moonshot WUs

Couple bonus WU's were reading at 4.4m PPD while they were running, but for the most part doing slightly under my norm due to large amount of covid moonshot (2-2.3m).  Normal was over 3 mil before (or just under on a slow day).
