on another note i sold my asus to a friend for his son i will be getting a 2060 KO to replace it. as the asus games fine but sucks at folding and keeping temps down lol.  have to deliver it next Tuesday hope to have the KO before then...

I have just noticed they have added compute mode to the Nvidia drivers has anyone tried this setting? i have gone ahead and enabled it to see i will know by tomorrow if that had changed the result for me i am running a 1070 a 750 ti and a 670

Edit: doesnt exist in windows with the RTX 2060

Yup,

 

The weird part is small WU results get reported OK but large ones fail. The F@H Team is aware of the issue and trying to figure it out.

 

Doesn't help that the Collection Server is off-line and has been that way for several days so there's no other place for the WUs to get uploaded to.

After 2 days of results not uploading or getting dumped when they did, yesterday afternoon I decided I'd had enough and I just blocked 3.21.157.11 in my firewall. Since then I've got no WU's from the problem servers and everything has been running just fine. I only have 1 WU that is still stuck.

well crap i think i fugured it out my after updating the Graphics driver yesterday its now only folding on my MSI Video card and my asus is on strike....now to finish the current WUs so i can uninstall and reinstall the previous drivers and for good measure reload F@H....

 

well had to reinstall windows...and was still broken so someone posted a link to the beta in the folding forum and that fixed it.

Are those WU's running on 2060 as the name would suggest ? My 2060's were doing them in around 41/2 hours and I was getting around 233,000 points for them. I don't understand the big time difference.

had a malfunction in F@H it was folding BOTH on my MSI 2060 it was Pegged at 100% Cuda and 75% or so Copy...and was running a wee bit warm...i uninstalled the vCard driver with out pausing first...oops...soo it dumped all the wus...so i said F*&)*& it and reinstalled and wouldn't work with Vcard so i installed the beta they recommended in the folding forums and am back running.

I am not sure if it has made a difference i will leave it for a few days and see if the overall score changes.

@cbigfoot, the new laptop is up and folding at about 600k ppd, putting my total ppd up to 2.4 million. 

 

Maybe I'll hold you off until I reach the top 300 now.

Probably something with a Ryzen APU/CPU of the lowish midrange for graphics on that only OR without (I don't know the impact of using a folding card as display out), 4/8GB RAM, a cheap small HDD or flash drive if Linux, low range MB because no CPU worries or RAM, decent PSU, and a 1060/70? 

 

Check me on that. It sounds about right. Any GPU deficiencies can be mitigated with the A/CPU but not much.

Thanks. Running Linux using the P106 passing through the onboard graphics seems to not tax the card at all since the display is off most of the time, but I haven't experimented with running the integrated graphics yet since it's working and I don't want to break anything lol. A 1060 (P106) is good for 300,000 to 400,000 PPD on average it seems, so I'd probably need a GPU doubly as powerful as that. Something like my Vega 56 does about 800,000-1mil PPD but is a bit power hungry.

 

Anyone know if the 2060 KO folds like a 2080 or folds like a 2060? Might be a worthy folding card if it folds like a 2080! The cooler is meh though, would probably hack up something from one of my many Hyper 212's I've someone accrued over the years.

A machine with adequate cooling for a RTX2060 to run 24/7 could do 1mill PPD

should get you ~1.3M i believe on GPU ONLY and could use AMD APU(Should be more PPD than the CPU) and Nvidia GPU

Yes i know you could cut corners on PSU fans and could get a cheper MB but making sure that you could throw a 2nd GPU in with out issue Though you may want to go to a 650 Watt if you want to think about a 2nd gpu. and maybee go to a 3400G or R5-1600

That's a lot more than I'm ready to spend, I think I'll grab a better PSU and hunt some B450 deals on eBay. That new R3 1300AF and 3100 both look like interesting relatively low TDP options for a good budget folding rig to keep one or two GPU's steadily fed and maybe do a little CPU work as well, or even a 1600AF maybe. I'd like to spend as little as possible, obviously, so I'll see how much I have on hand that I can recycle. I have a glut of 2GB DDR3 modules, too bad FAH doesn't like lots of RAM.

yeah if the 3100 was on PC part picker i would choose it but alas its not...but that was what i could find new and "low" cost through them but i dont skimp on PSU i always get a 80 Plus Gold or better any more.  so thusly i cant build a true Budget PC lol.  and alas i was going through more stuff at home and found a ryzen 1500 so Flexo may ride AMD again,,,as i have an Extra x470 board then again i may build a PC with it and sell it...
