+105MHz on the GPU, no o/c on the VRAM

Kind of a crap shoot with Turing. My RTX 2070 runs a stable +150 but my RTX 2060 +65 is the stable value. Though both the 1660 Ti and 2060 are XC Ultras and the 2070 is just an XC so the base boost clock is likely lower than the Ultra model which may account for it pushing further. All three can run for weeks at 1995, 2010 or 2025 depending on the WU

Nope, I’m seeing variation of about +/- 4%. Perhaps your just getting a lot of the same WUs

Agree with Gorgon. You've probably just had a consistent run of WU's with a completion time that's the same repetitive factor of 24(hrs), meaning you consistently have the same WU's finishing in each 24 hr period, and no sporadic larger ones that carry to the next day (Apologies if I'm stating the obvious..) ?

So believe it or not, only 3 weeks after buying my 570, I'm considering selling it to a young family friend who wants it ? So I'm contemplating a new card, most likely a 1660 Ti (2 slot).

I've narrowed my interest down to two different cards for the moment. I realise they're basically the same card, but does anyone have any strong arguments for either card? Or another similar card that perhaps I should consider? ?

Honestly that three fan solution on the Gigabyte is complete overkill for the 1660 Ti as they run super cool and two fans should be more than adequate. I have a Gigabyte Windforce 1060 6GB in eldest kids gaming and after a few months folding it started to get a slight rumble in one of the fans above 63% I understand that their Aorus units have better fans typically. Now if you want a quieter syste, and can fit it in your case with no obstructions then it will likely be able to run all three of it's fans much slower than the 2 on the MSI even folding full-tilt.

I notice that EVGA now have a SC Ultra out in a 2-slot config about the same price as the MSI here in Canada.

I do like the 1660 Ti as it is an OK value but if you can squeeze the extra funds a 2060 will perform better in folding and likely be better for gaming in the long term.

I also just realised that the backplate on that Gigabyte is plastic, perhaps still better than no backplate, but kinda cheap of them all the same.

I can get a single fan EVGA 2060 for $620 NZD ($40 NZD more than the MSI), but it's 2.75 slot, and I really want to keep my options open with air flow room for a future second card, so I'm hesitant about that.

What kind of PPD delta do you see between the 1660Ti and the 2060?

Pushed hard the 2060 gets about 1.1MPPD versus 750KPPD for the 1660Ti They're a similar value proposition in terms of PPD/$ at least here in Canada but YMMV depending on exchange rate and may actually improve in comparison as the new China Tariffs take effect. Here it's 33% more cost for 46% more performance.2060_20190517.jpg.905acd224d1053e131c7c8fb0e6c7470.jpg

The EVGA 1660 Ti SC Ultra is a new model that is dual fan, 2 slot width, and less expensive than the XC Ultra model.

Either the 1660 Ti or the 2060 will give you the best bang for your buck in terms of PPD/$ these days but that could change with Navi but realistically we may be a year out for mid range Navi.

I got a 1660 Ti to try it out. It met my expectations but if I were to but another card in the next 6 months it would be a 2060. It all comes down to how much Kraft Dinner your willing to eat and for how long ?

I've definitely been eating less takeaway meals lately to save the pennies, so you got that one right! ?  Those 2060 numbers are very enticing, but I may not get those wwith the single fan EVGA 2060, meaning I'd have to spend more..

There’s a dual slot two fan model 2060 for $10USD more

@Gorgon @mattheginger so here's a follow up on that weird huanan board i had been using for the F@H server i build.

i finally got my EVGA PSU, and i had it online for roughly half a day before it bricked itself.

No POST or nothing, the BIOS is unaccesable. all i get is fanspin, but no post code or beeps. seems like the hunt for a new S2011 board is on?

just a heads up to watch out with these boards and power-intensive workloads i guess.

Ouch! - I've been admiring the lime green sockets in the pics you've posted and was wondering where that board was from. I do like to get deals but I usually look for deals on new or open box hardware.

My last score was a GigaByte Aorus X370 Gaming K7 for $130CDN open-box and a New Ryzen 1200 for $99CDN. Not the best X370 motherboard in terms of VRM and BIOS but runs the 1200 just fine.

Don't feel too bad - I was cleaning the filters on one of my Fractal Design R4s the other day while it was running and while pulling the front filter out it hit the spinning blade of a ML140 which snapped off. This unbalanced the fan, it popped out of the holder and dropped into the Noctua iPPPC 3000 PWM mounted below it and took that one out as well. To make matters worse it was only after I cut the cables off the fans flush with the PCBs (I use them to make custom cables) that I realized I had a spare fan blade assembly for the Noctua so now I have to solder the cable back on.

Just push everything to the side ?

Yeah, big reason I'm going back to soft tubing.  Rigid is nice looking, but it is a pain if you need to troubleshoot a part.

I'm planning setup rigid for areas that don't need the soft tubing (like rad to rad, rad to pump or so), then have it transition to soft tubing when hooking to hardware parts.

Nice ? Bit of an upgrade from the 'Huanan' ?  What is that upright heat sink at the bottom for?

That's an extra controller. It activates the row of blue sata ports in the bottom.

The guy I bought this from used it with 2 E5 2680 V2's as a file server. It was kinda overkill for use at home tho so he downgraded.

Who was/is our current leader, and what does being said leader entail?  I mean, I’m all for them getting a new contest going for more graphics cards. ;)

They hand out badges and are meant to help with getting people up and running. Also I'd like to think they should run events and such. Our current leaders is Whiskers.

Out with the RX 570, and in with the 1660 Ti. Looking forward to a decent bump in PPD for roughly the same wattage as before  ?

Ok, so the new card doesn't seem to want to fold. Just stuck with a WU ready to go, but displays 'Ready' and won't respond if I click 'fold'.

Is this a driver issue? It's a 14163 WU, and the Nvidia drivers are the latest (430.86). If anybody has any ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.

Make sure you’ve deleted all the AMD driver then try a clean install of the Nvidia Driver then uninstall and reinstall the folding client first recording your passkey, username and Team ID.

sometime a DDU is required.
