What is the Graphics Core utilisation like in HWmonitor?

this is both my GPU's folding on HWMonitor. I have the 1070 on a OC right now (+175 core +550 mem) Titan is running stock.

i'm getting slightly better PPD now, about 1.5M. tough that is not quite what i was getting before.

I know the client can be funny with the way it predicts PPD. but usually not that far off.... I've thing you could try is running just that card for 24 hours and have a look at the production.

The titans power looks kinda low IMO, but maybe that's the way it always runs I'm not sure.

I’ve noticed some of the newer 14xxx WUs seem to drop the power when running. Just had my 1070 Ti drop from 160 down to 140W while running one.  It was a short frame time so it’s picked up another now and is running back up at the 158W Power Limit I’ve set it to.

Im currently running tests on efficiency. Running the cards from 50 to 110% of the FE Power Limits in 10% steps and recording the average PPDs and Power over 7 days to smooth out the WU variations.  I’m four weeks into it now and in another 4 or 5 weeks should have some results.

Notice that all the circled dates are Tuesdays, and they are all basically the lowest of each week. Strange. Any theories?

My personal graph looks similar. Switching to beta seriously boosted it though.

Setting the Advanced option "client-type" to "advanced" or "beta" is not recommended unless you actively monitor your rigs and are prepared to deal with failed WUs and having to adjust Power Targets and Shader overclocks with experimental Core 22 WUs in Beta now and soon to be promoted to advanced.

Yes, on windows, getting Core 22 WUs will give you a PPD increase due to their increased efficiency (not as much under Linux though apparently) but if your overclocks are close to the edge of stability currently this may result in failed WUs which likely would offset any potential gain.

But then if I were closing in on 2 Billion Points and nearing second place I likely wouldn't be concerned as much about yield and might be considering moving one of my rigs to "beta" ?

Yay for 4 hour work units, said no one ever...

image.png.4eaae50532b0eab33fa43a32b9773575.png

7 hours on a GTX 1060 6GB

4 1/2 hours on a GTX 1080 Ti

3 1/2 hours on a RTX 2060

14119, 14124 & 14126 are other big units and the trend seems to be larger WUs with more atoms to model

My record is 41:27 TPF for a 14121 on a 5th gen mobile i5. Took 2 days 21 hours to complete for 21,482 points. This was during Folding Month and shows why I don't CPU fold.

I guess I'm no one. I'm going for a high point:WU ratio, so those are the best.

Speaking of, I finally crossed both 200 million points and 100,000 points per WU avg. Goals = met. Next stop, 300 mil. One of these days I'll pick up an RTX card (probably next gen) so I can get an easy pass to 150k per WU.

I know they're good for that but since I only run folding overnights it really sucks when I wake up ready to start my day and it just started a 4 hour wu like 10 minutes before xD

I don't think there is a penalty as long as you get it completed by the deadline, obviously the longer you have it paused the less points you'll be able to actually get total due to not having it fold continuously.

No such thing as a stupid question.

Yes, as long as you complete the WU before the deadline you get the Base Points awarded. But there is a Quick Return Bonus on top that gives substantially more points the faster you complete the WU so pausing for a couple of hours will reduce the QRB.

Its Stanford’s way of encouraging quick results as all WUs in one generation of a project must complete before the next generation can start So one person slow to return a WU can significantly delay things.

Typically the base points are less than 10% of the total awarded but YMMV depending on how fast your card or CPU are.

That sucks. What are you folding on?

Haha. Yeah I'm folding with an HD 7870 that I've had for like 6 years. Usually between that and 2 cores of my 3570k, I can get 90-100K ppd. But these super large WU's are knocking it back to below 80K ppd... ?

I've been meaning to upgrade to maybe a 2060 or 70, but haven't had time for BFV lately (the only game I play), so that upgrade is on hold, and I may just upgrade my whole system..

That not super bad actually.

I still remember to this day back when I folded on a GTX580.  Getting even to one million points was a big deal back then.  Heck, getting anywhere near 100K PPD was consider being the hot stuff. xD

Just to give an idea, 20K PPD out of a GTX580 was consider doing well (that back when the cards first showed up, they did get better a bit later on).   Now, something like my aging GTX960 FTW spits out near 200K PPD (haven't fire it up lately to see how the newer work units do on it).

Yeah especially with the new RTX cards the average PPD numbers have gone through the roof.

Back when I started F@H I was on a 750Ti, and I was very impressed with the performance. Right now my Titan X is getting outperformed by pretty much any gaming rig tho. :/

Maybe time to move those over to BOINC projects then?

That what I did back when my Titans where up there in age.  Buggers crunch Einstein@Home WUs like beasts (had it configured to run two WUs per GPU).
