Ah yes there was another, 14126. This is a 31400 point base unit, IIRC (31000 and change). It leans closer to the longer 14 series units, but it's not quite as long, coming in at about 80% of the time of a 14124 WU. The good news in all of this is that all of the longer 14k WUs bring in well over 100k points for a single completion on any mid range GPU and up, bringing in about 180k on my overclocked Strix 1080, and about the same on my 50% power limit MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X. I would expect a 1070 Ti, 1080, and power limited 1080 Ti to all bring in around there in points, with a maxed out 1080 Ti most likely netting 200k+. I really want my 100,000:1 point to WU ratio back lol.

Also, for those interested, a 750 Ti brings about 50% of the points per WU of a 1080, at about 5.5 times the estimated TPF.

The curious thing is that my 1060 6GB EVGA card’s love the 14124s though the take over 6 hours they yield almost 500,000PPD even with a 120W Power cap. This is about a 15% increase in PPD over 117xx WUs excluding our favourite 11718.

My 1070Ti is ambivalent and still gets about the same PPD on the 14124.

The 2070 however loses about 80,000PPD on these. Hopefully this will improve with Driver and/or core code optimizations.

In a recent post on Folding Forums Bruce Borden noted that the Stanford researchers submitting the WUs appear to be releasing most WUs with the same Expirey time irresespective of the actual effort. So a WU that can be done faster will get more of a Quick Return Bonus than one that takes longer

I noticed that just today. My 1080 is actually up to 907k PPD on a 14124 WU (estimated 190k credit), when just last week it was much less, as it was when it was first released.

edit: but my 1080 Ti is down about 100k PPD (to 780k) on a 14124 WU... Interesting. Maybe it is like reverse scaling?

I haven’t analyzed the stats since Folding Month ended but some WUs show a wide standard deviation in PPD so it is likely that the 14124s fall in this category and depending on the run, clone and generation likely has some mix of single and dual precision calculations that cause the variance or, even worse, have to shuffle back to the CPU for some esoteric calculation.

there's a lot of words in there i don't fully understand. if i got this correctly, 14124=bad?

Sort of. 14124 = inconsistent for me, but in general it takes a long time to complete. Not necessarily bad.

i'm currently running a 14127 on my Titan X 2016, eTPF is 2:48 and ETA is 3h 30ish, but it's already roughly 30% completed.

it always kinda stings when my Titan gets outperformend by a 1080Ti. Damn you Nvidia! ?

Another new 14 series WU.

14130, coming in at 28700 base points. Currently my GPU is being fucky and says it'll take 7 days to complete so I'll come back when it decides to fix itself. Hopefully I'm not the guinea pig for this WU... 7 days... Fixed! 2:21 TPF, 3h52 ETA, estimated credit of 194,300. So pretty close to... I think 14125. 14124 I'm now getting over 200k credit on. Please and thank you.

edit: now there's a 14157 also. I'm done with keeping track of this. At least Stanford got around to adding more than the like 5 different 117xx WUs lol.

I've taken a roughly 25% hit in PPD since I started picking up 14124's (and possibly some other 14's?), although I am running an old 7870 which will take over a day to complete it's current 14124 WU (78,000 points)..

Hoping to get a 2060 or 2070 in the coming weeks, and it will not be soon enough.

I was folding on my FirePro W4100 for a while.  11718s would take almost 2 days and average PPD was 50,000.  Hate to think what a 14124 would do to it.

I’m running a 14130 on my 2070 XC Ultra and only getting 1.19MPPD which is pretty low for it.

It all averages out though in the long run

Well, the memory in my mostly idle server just decided to stop playing nice.  There goes my production.  I wonder how "lifetime" this memory warranty really is, since I upgraded this dual xeon system in 2007.  LOL

Good luck with the warranty but DDR and DDR2 Server memory can be found pretty cheap on eBay.

Took a HP DL360G4 out of service last year that had been in production for 10 years. It still worked but I needed more storage and I’d let the OS upgrade slide for so long it was easier to build new.

and yes, as typical for a US Holiday the Stats server at Stanford is down since 5:45 GMT so points aren’t getting updated but Work Units are still being assigned and results collected.

Stanford has been advised of the issue but it likely won’t be resolved until tomorrow

i cut a big hole in my front panel to increase airflow, and i have to say i'm impressed with the results! running my two cards at full power i get high 40's on my max temp, as opposed to low 60's without the mod.

I wondered why the credits weren't being assigned. Figured it had to be something like this as it seemed no one else was getting them either.

Will the points still be assigned when they start the server up again, or are they lost forever?

Yes, the collection server is the one that records point and as long as Stanford are accepting WUs from folders the points are recorded.

So it had been a while since I was around on here, a whole heap of sh!t has gone down over the last two months for me, I've spent some time in hospital, me and my fiance separated just before Xmas and mum(who I'm a full time carer for) also has been hospitalised, on top of that I've has no end of technical problems with my rigs. On a positive note, it looks like my charity should be off the group in a few months so thats coming along well.

How are you all doing? Folding going well?

I really haven't been keeping up to date very much but I'm back baby! Hoping to get back up to four cards folding once I work out why the second by 16 slot on my mobo seems to be dead. What do you guys thing, chip or board problem? Any time I insert a device, no matter if its a x16 GPU or a x1 NIC it just doesnt show in device manager at all, ive tried windows reinstallation and multiple PCIE devices, going to try some contact cleaner in the socket to see if any grim got in there from the last user.

Specs are,

x370 PRIME

ryzen 1600

16gb ddr4

GTX 1080

GTX 980

EVGA 850W supernova

Maybe a bent pin or other CPU socket damage? Those can harm PCI functionality aswell.

Ben,

My Frienemy ?, I’ve been looking at your stats and wondering what’s going on.

Glad your on the mend.

Prime X370-A or -Pro? Likely a bad 2nd PCIe x16 slot. I notice only the main slot seems reenforced on the -A so it might be bad or cracked solder joints or, as you say, crap in the contacts.

Gordon,

I'm not really on the mend, just learning to cope I guess. And yeah, it's the asus prime x370-pro. I can't see hour the slot could be damaged though as it worked when I had a different CPU in the system.

And yeah, production been all over the place as I've taken up streaming 7 days a week and don't fold during streams for obvious reasons.

Hope you are keeping well!

Ben.
