Seems nice, @emosun any ideas or like do you think this is do-able?

I still need a new case that fits the motherboard as it has different screw holes. I'm sure a regular psu won't fit in my case.

that's quite literally the wrong connector , the 4 pin is different.

I'm genuinly surprised how often parts are recommended without actually checking to make sure they work , to people who have not a lot of money.

it's a 6 pin and a 6pin horizontal, the only thing is missing is the 4 pin if i'm not mistaken.

Why should it fit in your case?

If you have no problem installing the PSU outside of your case then its doable.

Im sure any standart PSU will have enough cable length + the adapter make it longer.

Or you can just get a new case.

As I said, a new case would be nice but it needs to be a case that supports my mobo, that means it needs to have the correct screw holes for it to do.

a regular psu has a 4 pin cpu connector.

The small 4 pin on your board , what does it look like unplugged , becuase i think your example picture may be wrong.

Yeah essentially you'd have to find a btx case or another old hp case that was a full height version.

It looks like the one on the photo. Isn't the 6pin connector the same too? Doesn't a normal psu have both 6pin and 4pin like those in photos?

check out 0:21 in the video.

The cable is straight from the PSU, which i think is just a normal 4 pin motherboard cable.

Yeah that one is the "horizontal 6pin" i removed it and counted the holes on it xD , 6 holes.

I'll try lowering the power limit from 100% that it is rn to 80%, i'll see if there's any drastic changes.

If you're wondering, that's almost identical to my pc, it's just that mine's a 8000 sff and that's a 6000 series. But it's like identical. He opens it up and shows the 4pin connector from psu to mobo wich is the cpu 4pin connector from what he says..

A typical PSU will have these :

image.png.9e5c3fd29a8a57c38779b52874438c3f.png

The adapter :

image.png.1b9c5a23e511c8e21a7273a0c004e7de.png

So the adapter only use 20 pins, and the missing 4 can be supplied from the 4pin mb connectors (12v).

Okay so lets say in theory that we got this, we got a psu, now can u find a case wich is compatible with the mobo?

It's a BTX motherboard if i'm not mistaken, you can find a BTX case but the cost may not be worth it.

Maybe its cheaper if you buy a used 775 motherboard and a cheap $10 case.

Or if you're desperate, you can just use the PSU outside of the case.

Just make sure the cable is long enough.

BTX?

I've never even heard of that one...

yea I have to agree.

pcpartpicker only even has these listed:

  • ATX
  • EATX
  • Flex ATX
  • HPTX
  • Micro ATX
  • Mini DTX
  • Mini ITX
  • SSI CEB
  • SSI EEB
  • Thin Mini ITX
  • XL ATX

So, yea.. you really ought to do an upgrade here.

I don't think it's worth trying to keep the mobo.

I don't see you CPU there either.

When the parts aren't listed there, it ain't a good sign.

(I have to apologize for snapping back at that fellow that was rude. I was right that they shouldn't have been rude, but I shouldn't have snapped back or called them trolly. That's not like me. Should have just blocked them.)

It has a quad channel RAM e.e like shit, I just paid 60$ for all this ram, 12 gigs in total. I dont want to change that too :x

It's DDR3 so it should be compatible with lots of great last gen motherboard/CPU combos..

I'll give you an example   a used z97 pc mate and an i5 4690k

If you did this for an upgrade with your 1050ti and of course a new PSU/Case .. your machine would actually be on the low end of being VR compatible ;) so pretty good.

What's the exact ram make/model?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTX_(form_factor)

Yeah BTX is actually an inverted ATX, it suppose to fix the ATX thermal problems by moving the PSU away from the CPU so it could eliminate the hot air pocket.

You know you're not supposed to mix and match memory like that.

I wonder if that's causing your issues.

Try running the test with only 1 or at least 2 of the same type in duel channel mode.
