Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 100k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

26 minutes ago, Drak3 said:

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

There's nothing wrong with a wooden frame wagon.

i mean a lifted wagon is better than no wagon. hence why my family bought an outback over a breadbox rogue/murano/equinox/(insert other shitbox crossover).

Making some progress. The wing had always been a problem but I think I got it down a little better. I just can't shake the all day tired feeling I have, but at least my toe is feeling much better with more rest.

hmmm I was suggested to look at 2nd Gen Pathfinders or the Infiniti version from my bf over a 4Runner to save a few bucks, what do y'all think?
Any things extra I should consider when looking at one of those versus a 4Runner?

The V6 has the same timing chain issues as the V6 in Nissan cars, it stretches and the timing goes out of spec. If it's caught early enough meh no harm, but if it's let go it'll melt the cats too. I'm pretty Meh on them with high miles, I'd be more confident in a high mile 4Runner but they've got their own issues too, mostly suspension stuff which is normal wear and tear.

I know my Grandpa drove for a little while a Nissan Altima from the same era that had issues with the ECU so I wasn't sure if that was something that was an issue in other Nissan models of the time.

The Pathfinders I'm seeing are lower mileage for about the same amount of money or less than 4Runners with 100,000-200,000 more miles.

At 100,000 the chains are very likely needed and quite possibly both cats too so add whatever cost that would be to the initial cost as an expected problem, with that added they may not seem like such a good deal.

From an outsiders perspective, this is one hecking fast car. On boost in a straight line, it's as fast as the Can-Jam car and judging from the cage and carbon bodywork, possibly lighter too. Running the same Motion Control Suspension 3W dampers as well.

GUYS I'M NOT DEAD!!!  But it sure feels like I am...?

Last I posted, my car was at the body shop? Well, they had it so long, and kept giving excuses, delaying starting work on it etc, that I had to jump down their necks repeatedly to even get things moving. For what they said would be around two weeks worth of work, they had it over three months. Oh, and the paint match was abysmal, so I actually had to send it back to get repainted too. Admittedly not their fault, they outsource their paint mixing to a nearby company. But still, stress on top of stress.

When I dropped the car off April 1st, I wasn't particularly pressed for time; I was going away with some friends to Europe, in the car, mid-July. Well, by the time I actually got the car back, I had to squeeze over two months worth of wiring, reassembly and preparation, into about...three weeks. I was slaving dusk till dawn on weekends, and every weekday evening to get it finished. I was fitting the side skirts the same day we were scheduled to leave.

I didn't even have time to wash the car before I left, so I had to road trip across Europe with 9 months worth of dirt on the car, id hadn't been washed since it was put into storage last September! I actually died a little inside ?

But she's back, considerably less rusty, and actually with quite a few upgrades too.

Now I can just leave things the fuck alone, and enjoy driving again xDxDxD

What happened is I spoke to the bloke when I picked it up, he knew I wasn't happy with the match and he was happy to repaint it, we both agreed the paint was mixed up wrong.

But I HAD to get it MOT'd and dropped off to my auto electrician 2 days after I picked it up, my schedule was so tight by that point. So we organised that he would take it back a week or so later to do the paint again. Had there been more flexibility, I'd have just left it with him to be repainted but I didn't have that option. Like I say, the time crunch was real ?

ANyway, here's me missing apex's like a pro(very casual lapping this year)

And here's a little something for @RevoltTrain and all the others who actually liked the three-spokes....they're VERY wide in the front, so don't fit great at all. But dang....
