Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

actually sounds fine (I didn't take the belt off and spin it tho) I was worried about the marks on the plastic. If you think those aren't a big deal I'll rest easy

If not A whole kit with tensioner and pulleys and belt is $150 so prob worth doing it all anyways

If it's just some rubber left behind from the belt or an old belt then scrape it clean and sent it, as long as there's no side to side play or bearing noise. If the bearing spins freely real fast it's probably dry. Often you can pop the shield off the bearing and push a little grease into it the cage, put the shields back on, and it'll give a few more years of life with new grease. I'll do that if I've got one that's borderline like it's quiet but it spins a little too freely, avoids a come back or unexpected part required, but I make sure and note it.

Having fun with reflective vinyl 😅

Up next I need to redo the tailgate decals.PXL_20230821_045519114.thumb.jpg.a26b78bdbf13bfe0aa4085b6c2adb45c.jpg

I mean if I can get the originals off without taking the paint with them...the tailgate is super crusty.

Retro-reflective vinyl is so much fun. I had someone do the CELICA letter insert vinyls in retro-reflective red because I get an extra parking reflector on my very black car and it just looks so darn cool and it's just one more tiny thing that's different than anyone else that no one but me knows, notices, or cares about. 🙂

Customer called INSISTING that we fucked up because her new from the dealer driver side mirror doesn't say "objects may appear smaller" on it. DRIVER SIDE. And she's 100% confident that the old one did, she's going to be looking into it.

COME ON BY, I'VE GOT A GOOD SHARPIE!

Why do I even bother asking customers questions?

So how's it been running?

"Oh yeah great fine"

So no problems?

"No no none at all been great"

Drops by later to get a work bag and asks what's going on with it, tell them it's got 3 codes, 2 for trans temp and one for fan circuit. Ask them if it overheated or ran hot "no but well see about 3 weeks ago the trans was slippin some so I went to the AAMCO and they said it was a leak so I put in a quart and it's been fine since"

I'll just compensate the targets for the camera mounting. Windshield was so scuffed it didn't have a brand name on it, at least visible. One of those safelite specials or something.

Trailing arm bushings on the GF escape were pretty wasted. Better now, alignment next week. Too fucking hot today to care.
