Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Really? I didn't know that since my protege hasn't rusted at all, since it almost never snows here so rust isn't an issue. Maybe a 3 series?

that saddens me. they're genuinely fun cars to drive, provided it's a manual.

Well his other car probably wont get off the boat until just before Christmas, so I guess this will keep him busy!

he should work on my Miata instead of wasting time on that RSX :D

I mean its a fast car and all, but having tracked the RSX with its horrible front suspenions... I just don't like them anymore...

so I autocrossed a mazdaspeed 3 today..

here it is, in all its torque steer glory:

It was quite a fun car! He had it set up really well and I found it enjoyable. The course this time was very complex, much more so than usual so that made things interesting lol

torque steer? Honestly when you’re autoX’ing it, it’s not bad. But if you’re say doing a pull on the street, you notice for sure, it loves to pull the wheel to the right. But really for autoX it wasn’t too bothersome. The biggest bother for me was the turbo @MEC-777. Just it was far from immediate... I didn’t like it, when the boost would come on it would like to spin the front tires... it made slaloming with smooth power difficult. (Though I’m sure on a track it would be fine)

Overall pretty good day... I (Braxton) beat the owner (Chris Wooster, an older Englishman. Super nice and a good driver, just had a bad day it seemed lol)

kicking ass and taking names!  sounds like you're getting to be quite the autox'r!

my only fwd autox experience was with the RSX, and with its horrible front suspension design, torque steer was horrible even though its not exactly a high torque car...

I didn't have any issues with the turbo autox'ing my Evo and sister's STi, but those are awd so not spinning wheels much, but I did have to account for the slight delay of throttle response.  wasn't much of an issue unless speeds got slow enough to drop really low in the rpm's.  I'm thinking the MS3 might have some torque management from the factory with it being FWD which causes a tad more lag then you'd otherwise see, maybe?

in other news, a buddy of mine bought a K20 EG hatch from a different buddy of mine... how he has to sell his old EG hatch and the K20 sitting in his garage...  car is about 90% done, needs a few things here and there.. new clutch, decent coilovers (on megans as place holders), better tires, a radiator thats up to track use... it came with GSR brakes that he needs to put on... 3" exhaust and a retune (no knock but afr's are pretty jumpy)

I have my fingers crossed he'll let me do a session in it at the track :D

Hes surprisingly quick even though they explicitly said he wasn't pushing for fastest laps. Still within a second or two of the Formula 3.5 / LMP2 champions also there to test.

Whats interesting is that with Toyota confirming a two car effort for the super season, they also said one of their full-time drivers may or may not be losing that status (to part time potentially for Nando to have a go)

Also dont you just love his naked helmet?
