Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

oh yeah, apparently my friend bought a twin turbo mkiv supra, FOR 9 FREAKING GRAND. like it looked like in good condition, and it was a stick shift model. i don't understand how he got a functioning supra for that low. i feel like there might be some major problem he doesn't know about.

does he actually have it?  or is it one of those deals where the car is at some far away location and you pay some escrow company and then the car get shipped to him?  cause a lot of people get scammed like this...  9k is the price of an NA supra... even a none running twin turbo manual supra easily sells for more than 9k in the US

9k is about right for a supra here in the UK. With clean examples going for about 15k. 30k is mad for an N/A one

30k (USD or GBP) is mad for an NA one, but there's a big price difference between an NA supra and a twin turbo supra (factory turbo, not NA with a turbo bolted on).  how much do twin turbo 6 spd supra's sell for in the uk?  also, I'm assuming you're listing all prices in GBP?

in the US, the 6spd Getrag sells for 6-7k.  thats just the transmission, you'd still need all the other bits and pieces for the conversion.  not sure how much the trans is in the uk, but I don't imagine that being too much different

actually sounds a lot like the e39 m5 with a muffler delete, only it roars much more at the top end. the low end rpms, they sound almost the same. but the isf has an autotragic, so it doesn't sound as roary when rpm drops before the next gear. and that gap in between gears it just feels too short, since it shifts so quick.

is he a car guy? would he know the difference?  cause I've had an owner of a 3rd gen V6 eclipse try to tell me his car was turbo'd from the factory... when I asked him to show me under the hood, he picked up the hood and said "there" pointing at his bone stock engine bay

so i just got off the phone with my dad. he told me that he got involved in a car crash in the corolla, i'm assuming on the way home from work. kinda sucks, and plus, it got hit in the same spot where it was hit a few years back, from the first year we owned the corolla. but the corolla has full coverage, so we might be able to pay for the damage to the car. but since it's essentially been hit twice already, would it be a salvage titled car, or would it still be clean because he told me he hasn't totaled the car yet.
