Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

There's enough skid marks in them they won't care. (assuming you get permission for the event)

Especially if you get some of that spray paint the city uses that washes off with rainwater that they use to mark out where different electrical and sewage and water lines are. That stuff is great.

But then it wouldn't be easier to set it up the next time anyway...

Back when i worked excavation i used that paint. Washes off the road surface well.. Less so out of clothes

we'll see I guess.

He has a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd (5.3 non-E85). Tells me he's been driving it like a maniac all week to get used to how it handles on it's not-so-big limits lol. I told him he better have some fast hands for something as tight as an autoX lol

Yeah I agree, the seat time and having to work the course stinks, I kind of like when there is a lot of people though because then there's a chance that you don't have to work, happened to me once and I got to go ride along with Neil the camera guy and teach him a bit of what I knew and with that he was able to improve his times. I wish I could do that all the time, makes me feel useful unlike standing around waiting for cones to fall over and then almost pass out sprinting to get them before the next car comes lol

for me its not even the "work" part of it, its the "not driving" part of it, haha

IIRC Matt has a 2015 Sierra LT. Should have a 5.3 gen V smallblock.

And here its getting permits and a location. After that its time. Buuut really right now its time and money. And interest. I need to go talk to a guy with that evo and see if he knows any other car people that would do it.

getting permits and a location?  I'm not saying to put on your own, go do an event that someone else is putting on.  entry fee is usually around 35 bucks.  here's a list of events in oregon:

edit:

I'm gonna do my best to make the one on the 24th in Packwood, WA. but thats prolly quite a drive for you... although its a 2-3 hour drive for me too

That's why your autocross is so much better. You can drive your own car.

I hadn't looked up pack wood yet. And it might shave 1 hour off the drive. Because the point where if get off i5 is about the same distance to Seattle as it is to pack wood.

that can't be right.  I5 goes right through Seattle, basically you stay on it till you reach Seattle.  To go to Packwood you'd get off I5 somewhere near the WA/OR boarder.  but either way Packwood is a hike for you... I'd try to make one of the events at PIR if I were you, even though its still pretty far at 3 hours

Does anyone here know whether the ease of over-steering on a W10 MR2 is enough to consider not buying it, from the perspective of someone who's not going to race it just drive normally?

Shipping sucks

driving normally no car will kick its rear out on you.  but this is normal driving my normal people standard of normal driving.  your idea of normal driving may not be all that normal

That's what I figured. I like to accelerate, but that's about it.

Just wanted some reassurance before I put myself out in the market

It's the same issue that Mustang drivers have when leaving car shows.

Won't be a problem if you keep the car straight.

ok so my minivan seems to have issues with the key and the ignition. everytime i turn the key off, i can turn it to the ACC position, but it won't turn all the way to LOCK. like its physically impossible to remove it from the ignition switch. and it does happen from time to time. sometimes i worry the key won't free itself any time soon. does this mean the ignition switch is starting to go bad?

Something similar happened with a car at work. But that car was key-less (still had to turn a thing where a key normally goes).

Does it help to start the car back up, then shutting it back off again?

It was weird with our car. Sometimes it worked by turning it on and back off again. Other times it helped to jiggle it.
