I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

Anyone here got any OBD2 scanners that they recommend? Looking for something suitable for my E46.

Laptop + INPA + Bimmergeeks cable. Works well for my E90 and, at least on "newer" BMWs will show some codes that other scanners can't (like water pump shadow codes for models with an electric pump).

Main PC: Ryzen 1600 @4GHz, 16GB 2933 MHz DDR4, 1060 6GB blower card.

Laptop: ThinkPad T580 (i5, iGPU, FHD, 16GB RAM, 256 SSD+1TB HDD). Used with both the regular and extended-run batteries (RIP power bridge).

Was wondering why the steering wheel in my new car was so immediately familiar, worked out why.

Same shape, almost the same size.

The steering wheels in those newer Peugeots are super tiny. But they don't have to be large either. So it's either way. Them being small isn't a bad thing.

Yeah, love the small steering wheel tbh, makes town driving very easy. And because I have a lot of experience on the Logitech, it didn't feel wierd at all from the get go.

After the cold blast passes and things warm back up I have some work to do.
Tie-rod ends to replace, a steering hose that's seeping fluid to fix and a couple of other items on the list. Good thing is how high the pickup is off the ground making access to the underside a snap compared to alot of them but I'll still have to get the front wheels off the ground for the tie-rod ends.

After all that, it's moving onto the AC problem in my daily driver since the compressor went out.
Unlike this one, getting under and to it will be fun in comparison.

Yeah, I thought about going for a RCZ-R, they're a couple grand less than the 308 GTi, but the 308 is nicer inside, thanks to the 308 being on the new UMP2 platorm is 100kg (220lbs) lighter, and has the later engine that is less susceptible to timing chain issues. And I was also looking for something with a bit more space and seating than my old Volvo C30.

Finally bought my next car, been looking for it for ages, and even made an adjustment to what I searched for. What I wanted was a BMW E93 (hard top convertible) 330i, I ended up getting a 325i. Didn't like it, but how rare they are here (Netherlands - and considering how many BMWs are on the road here, that's saying something), the fact it's the same engine in both cars, and will have the same amount of power if you put a 330 intake manifold in it with a 330 tune, I figured this was the better option, especially since I could get a lot lower mileage one for the same money.

The car I ended up getting was also a non import model, and like 90% of them being sold are imported, many from Germany, and you run the risk of getting one that are tempered with and you actually get a high mileage one without knowing, same with frame damage, because sadly the EU can't get a proper system going to keep track of this. With a Dutch one I can get it's full history, which is clean.

It's also sold by a very reputable dealer who is very close to me. So figured I'd take the shot.

I had the car checked before buying by an independent garage, we got officials reports where they check the car on 123 points, the result was some issues, oil leaking, lamba sensor broken, super small crack in the taillight (hadn't noticed it myself, had to look superclose), which isn't allowed, and low on airco fluid.

Went back to the dealer and they made no issue to fix all of it, new sensor coming in, replacement taillight, filling the airco and replacing the crankcase cover, which should be the issue. I got everything in writing and if any of it isn't fixed, they will fix it regardless.

So honestly really happy about all of that, the check was 150, but it saved me like 2k in repairs, because replacing the cover is apparently a ton of work in these cars.

It should be done next week, the independent garage said the car in general is in great condition. 13 years old with 144k km/86k miles, so this should last me for many years.

When the car is in, I'll post some pictures.

Ps for those who don't know, the engine is a straight 6 3 liters, such a smooth drive compared to my 4 cilinder.

And are there good sites to buy a used car if the budjet limit is $500?

No.  And "good" is insanely relative when you're talking of that price point.  IMHO, everything < $5,000 (and especially $2500) is gambling with your money.

In fact, I don't even think LeMons has entry costs that low ($500) anymore.

Honda can clean there shit themselves. I was using it because the crank pulley wanted to fight me. Not sure why. I had the balancer off and was turning it with the crank bolt to move it to tdc. Shouldn't be enough to damage the crank. I do it all the time. Now I gotta wait till Tuesday for a crank pulley.

Its getting a new short block for a low end knock + copper glitter in oil. They didn't want to do heads unless there was scoring on the cam/roller followers which there isn't. Couldn't get the crank pulley off so I tried cleaning the crank with brake clean to see if it would slide off. It wouldn't. Tried filing the surface and nothing. So I had to use a puller and slightly damaged it due to being really soft metal. Pulley is backordered ETA the 25th.

Ah shit man that sucks. You couldn't have like dragged some scuff pad across the cam lobes and journals when no one was looking?
