Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 100k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

26 minutes ago, Drak3 said:

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

yeah i would shove as much transmission cooling as possible ...cause IIRC that was the only (or at least the biggest) issue with the SST box

are the clutches oil cooled(wet clutches) or something? otherwise I dont see how transmission cooling would prevent it from overheating? if it's just like a typical clutch then there's no liquid there to cool them... so a cooler would be useless for traffic (still useful on track though where the gear oil gets hot)

2 wet clutches or "clutch packs" i guess they could be called

does it slip the clutch too much (More than you would if you were manually operating the clutches?)

I'm wondering if it's the clutches that overheat

its a wet clutch, so yes slipping the clutch does make more heat, but it all ends up in the fluid.  the actual clutch discs are fine because of that.  but its also the reason why it needs upgraded cooling unless you only do boring and no heavy traffic driving in it.

I can see how the styling would be polarizing, and the name "superfast" is just plain stupid, I'll give you that.

don't forget mini interiors are kinda cheaply made unfortunately. ppl tend to start having problems with them getting kinda ragged out and/or rattly around 100k miles or so

which is fine if you buy it new and dont keep it that long. but just something to keep in mind when buying a used one for sure

Minis have one of the worst long term reliability rating out of pretty much all well known manufacturers, and have for decades.

@vetali since you’re the Honda expert, and idea what would cause the accord to have a driveline-esc vibration under hard acceleration only? It’s normal with slow acceleration and cruising, deceleration.

im thinking motor/transmission mounts, but I’m not sure.

Rdit: and it’s the whole car that shakes, not just the steering wheel.

Can't really say without feeling it for myself.

What cars still have hydraulic steering?

I know know new Infiniti Qx80’s still have it... which is weird to me. Our 2015 does and as far as I can tell new ones do too

I don't really street race tbh. An once rolling when I was in Mexico I got up to 100 too damn quick for street roads. Lol

Edit: only Lexus that can hang or beat me right now is the 350/actual ISF. After I get the K04 turbo ISF stock won't be able to beat it. That being said my co worker also thought the ISF gained 100hp from just full bolt ons. No N/A Lexus makes 100hp from intake exhaust and a tune. 🤪🤪🤪🤪 said he wanted to race for pinks.....my garage could use another car for a daily driver.
