Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

How much you having done on the bm?

The civic needs pretty much the entire underside doing and tryna determine if its worth it or not

Honestly it's hard to give an overall quote, I went to several places and had prices ranging from £350 all the way up to £1400 for the sill alone. And I feel like that'd teh case wherever you are in the country tbh.... I ended up going with a widely recommended local bloke over a larger bodyshop, but being it's a very small operation, it's been a struggle to find a gap long enough to stick on a single, larger job like this. Hence the long-ass wait.

I'd say just ask around as much as you can and look at reviews etc. I ended up hearing about this guy on a facebook.

If money were no object, for BMW's I'd only have two to choose from; Reddish Motorsport, and Munich Legends ❤️

Was that on a club facebook page or something? They're good places to ask around, it's worth speaking to a few local garages too to see what they say. Ones that don't do their own bodywork that is.

p.s. Lol I just found the notepad that has the most expensive quote written on it...£1920 for the sill, and £750 per arch. Some people smoke crack at their jobs I swear...

Soon I'll be a few steps closeer to 300hp at the crank on my 2000 Saab 9-3, I have collected the necessary parts over the past months, just recently ordered a do88 intercooler and a walbro fuel pump that's the final parts I need.

I'm going to replace the turbo, intercooler, fuel pump, the air intake to the turbo and then have it dyno tuned on e85 to hopefully reach my goal of 300hp.

I already have a 3 inch downpipe with a 2.5 inch sport exhaust, 630cc fuel injectors upgraded clutch and rear anti swaybar. Supposedly making 250hp at the crank from an ecu tune (plug and play) on e85

I'm so excited to recive the final parts the coming week.

Hella bitrate.

A bit off-topic: I guess I'm looking at 90s Corollas and Geo Prizms now.

Solid cars, the Prizm GSI had a 4A-GE in it, fun car. For solid daily driver tho a 93-early 95 1.8L Corolla DX or Prizm LSi is the way to go. The 7A-FE drives so nice with lots of torque down low for such a small engine, hitting peak torque around 2800 RPM and holding that peak figure until nearly rev limit. It doesn't take a lot of throttle to get moving from a stop and highway cruising under 70mph gets into the mid 30mpg range with some light mods. The earlier ones are more favored due to their lack of EGR, one catalyst, and adjustable distributor that lets you slightly advance timing to get a little more MPG and a good bump more torque. Slap on one of the ebay header and the engine wakes up a little more, I even saw a slight bump in highway MPG from that. The best I ever got was 38, I averaged 34-35 highway and mixed seemed to hang out around 30.

Some 7A are known to be oil burners so inspect the rear bumper above the tail pipe for heavy soot or staining. The fix is just to pull the pistons and re-ring them and do a light hone on the bores along with new valve stem seals. Sometimes it's just stem seals but as the miles rack up the likely hood of oil ring problems goes up. It's not a super common issue but common enough with ones that were poorly maintained.

So officially on a family vacation. Drove my dads Audi following the QX80 almost 400 miles. Perfect for drafting for a very long time. Was just following anyway so I concentrated really hard on using as little fuel as possible because it was something to do lol

Average came out to a bit over 34mpg. But it peaked at 35.6... if I had kept that last bit I could have driven my dads 2014 Audi A6 3.0T (not a diesel) over 700 miles Lol

took a pic at 35. Honestly super impressed for a 4000 lb car with a supercharged V6 carrying me and my sister and a bunch of luggage for the rest lol

That's really impressive for a supercharged 3.0T, since the supercharger is robbing power all the time. I peak at around 38-39mpg in my 2.0T on long-ish drives, but can probably get over 40mpg if I drafted diligently.

My car reads about 5-6% high though, and I am pretty sure that this is similar for most VAG cars.

It's finally time to fix the Corolla's paint! I'm completely repainting the hood and roof since they have rust and deep scratches, and I'm only reapplying clear coat on the trunk since the paint isn't too badly worn. Sanding the hood is turning out to be a bit of a pain though.

Why  not chemical strip it, then start building/sanding primer to make it flat/smooth? Or at this point you could probably find a hood in better shape at the junk yard.

If I had paint stripper, I would have used it. Sanding isn't too much of a pain, just an extra step in the process, and I don't expect the end result to be perfect anyways. Considering the condition of the rest of the car, I'm completely fine spending 20 dollars on sandpaper, primer, and paint rather than a couple hundred at an auto paint shop.

I customized my front bumper cover this weekend, just put it back together since I need it to get to work tomorrow.

Anyway it turned out quite bad actually, it didn't go as I had planned at all, it looks okayish from afar, I used stuff laying around, which at this point I guess has gone bad.

No matter how much sanding I did I couldn't get the surface smooth after fiberglass putty, even though I had added a fine putty,  sanding, there was still small edges and pits I couldn't get rid off.

The paint I had custom ordered for my cars color code was way darker than the actual color.

Well it is what it is and I'll live with it until I decide to redo it. I'll learn from this and do better next time.

Here's some pictures now that it's done.
