Are the Cooler Master fan heatsink brackets interchangeable.

Go to solution Solved by partymarty,

First; Welcome to the PC family! :)

Second; I've done some googling about those parts, as far as I can see on google the mounting brackets are far from the same. The hyper 212 EVO uses 2 metal pieces in a cross for mounting.

I've added pictures from both mounting mechanisms. The second one is the 212 EVO, the first one is the V8.

I was wondering if the cooler master family of heatsinks have a interchangable system of brackets as I recently aquired a Cooler Master V8 (non-gts) but it has no brackets. I was thinking of buying a Hyper 212 Evo and switching the brackets but alas I would like to know if the mounting is the same. Thank you for any answers you can give to a rather new member of the pc building family.

You could try to buy a second hand V8 (hopefully for a decent price) and just use the bracket for it.

Thank you partymarty for the quick response and the welcoming. I guess I will need to buy a second V8 and use the bracket. Hopefully I find a place to use the bracketless one somewhere down the line. When I tried mounting with zip ties the cooler had a hard time staying against the CPU because of the weight so it'll need to be a horizontal case.
