It's not technically against the forum rules, but generally speaking you'd rather look for help with your homework in other places than LTT.

Sometimes someone steps up to help but the general sentiment is that doing someone's homework would do more harm than good in the long run for them.

Please solve this is so hard.

There is not enough information here to guide you to a solution. All you've done here is made a data dump of nonsensical information since you haven't given us any scope. If you would like guidance, please say that you want guidance, and also give us enough information to get said guidance. Many of us would love to help you arrive at the answer, and we can do so without giving you the answer. However, if you just want to cheat, then you are part of the problem that whatever class you're in is trying to solve, and you should be named and publicly shamed so that you can never get a job where security is of any import.

I thought about posting in Forum Suggestions about making a concrete rule about cheating, until I realized that such a rule would leave no room for guidance or teaching either.

IMO (and take this with a grain of salt since I am not staff), asking for guidance to a solution, showing that you have done your homework, and accepting any correct and meaningful hints and suggestions is ok. Doing what OP did, which is clearly and undeniably ask for a cheating partner is not ok.

Assuming you still remember what you learned.

E.g. have you taken calculus or US history? Can you tell me what the epsilon delta definition of a limit is or what facilitated American colonial commerce and mass consumerism in the 1700s without searching the internet? Yeah.... that is education. Materials are there only termproarily to earn a passing mark.

Only if you're going into the cryptography field itself. Otherwise it's not really useful to know how say AES 256 works, only that you're aware it exists.

Besides, if you're implementing a cryptography standard, you're doing it wrong. You get a library for it because:

  • You should never reinvent the wheel
  • You have to get it right, otherwise it won't work. And it's very easy to screw up cryptography. So you go with something that's been used and known to work.

So we should just stop teaching everything because people might forget it?

I doubt they are teaching the intricate details of how any secure encryption method works however it's very useful to understand what cryptography is, how it works at a high level and how it should be used. Security should be a key focus of any computing course these days including cryptography and when I interview people for software engineering roles I expect them to be able to talk about it.

Why? It's only really useful for communication purposes. If all your software is localized and there's no real security requirement, then there's little reason to deploy some sort of cryptography.

While encrypting your traffic is important, if you're talking about security, it's better to be able to actually design and implement the software correctly. Most security issues happen due to a bug in either the implementation or the design and cryptography can be broken by that.

Unless you're looking for random patterns within the data, the problem can't be solved by us here with the current amount of available information, unless someone by chance has solved that riddiculous thing before.

No idea what you were thinking when you posted that. You'll probably fail the course if you keep asking for people to solve your problems instead of trying harder yourself.

Actually it's really easy to solve with what is provided.

Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it ridiculous.

I should add @straight_stewie to that list of people who say it can't be solved. It can very easily. I never really read all the responses earlier because I also figured it was op's homework which is why I didn't point this out earlier.

I said "with only the given information". If you make assumptions about things, then you are not operating only on the given data.

Well you have to make an assumption. Otherwise there would be nothing to solve because the answer would be given. xD

And assumption is very often required even when it seems very straight forward. Take this for example.

Find the missing number and provide the equation.

2, 4, 6, x, 10, 12

Naturally the obvious solution is 8. x = n + 2. However I could put pretty much any number in there I wanted and solve it. So you have to make certain assumptions.

<snip>

Please solve this is so hard.

I won't solve this for you but I will help you solve it your self.

These are roman numeral all you need is to convert it...

I = 1

V = 5

X = 10

L = 50

C = 100

D = 500

M = 1000

Any number with the greater before the lower is added. Example;

II = 2

VI = 6

XIII = 13

Any number with the lower before the greater is subtracted. Example;

IV = 4

IX = 9

XC= 40

For higher number or more complex you subtract the larger number first than add the smaller number. Example;

XLI = 41

Rule of thumb is to convert with the smallest use of the numeral.

19 = XIX not XVIIII

Today's Date in Roman Numeral;  III-XIX-MMXVIII = 03-18-2018

I hope this helps.
