@woodenmarker i was actually just trying that. i switched all the fans to standard. GPU went from 24C to 27C then I started mining to jack up the heat and it went up to 60C with no change to fan speed.

It could be that the fan controller on your motherboard isn't fully supported by SpeedFan yet. Relying on the graphics card fan header is probably your best option.

Either is fine but buying an adapter won't void your warranty.

it's fine the card is over a year old anyway
