Zotac has the worst customer support so far.

My 1070 Founders edition recently developed a fault. I message the EU team and their response"Capture.PNG.29ba49ac533f1c0a7937347f53ea894a.PNG". Even after saying the issue, which was the GPU fan would turn back on after the system was powered down and after unplugging the power supply itself from any available wall power it would still spin in excess of 10 hours. I expect a much better response from someone who I paid out hundreds of pounds too. What kind of a response is this? Due to the recent influx of mining Amazon have no replacements and I use the card for daily work.

contact where you bought it, i doubt that was straight from Zotac

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

I did, as I mentioned Amazon have no replacements and I can't afford to wait what could be weeks for A) Money to be transferred back to my account B) Waiting for a graphics card to be back in stock with presumably a large back log for the GPU I need.

well Zotac arent going to do shit, nor would anyone else tbh. maybe EVGA on a good day i guess

You should be able to hit the power button with the power plug out and it'll discharge everything.  I find it difficult to believe that it'll run for 10 hours unplugged

I have already tried that. I have been for the past week, googling solutions, causes and how to possibly fix it. I held the case power for 5 minutes when the system was unplugged to drain what charge could be in the capacitors. As soon as the PC is turned off it just shoots back on and doesn't turn off.

You could be waiting for a month+ with the stock problems, best to get a refund I guess.

I know it would be best, I use my card almost daily for my engineering drawings.

If the card has a warranty then it WOULD be Zotac who needs to replace it. That is how a warranty works. That being said EVGA is definitely the best for RMA's. That being said most of these companies offer "Advanced" Rma's. This normally consists of them shipping you a card and you shipping that one back at the same time or they ship you one and you ship yours to them once you have the card.

 

This means you won't be without a card for an extended amount of time, but also means in the event your card was damaged by you... then you might get charged for the new card. 

 

*Edit* If I was you I would lean harder on Zotac, They have a legal obligation to replace the card if under warranty. So just keep contacting them until they finally uphold their end of the warranty.

I think it's quite unfair to call their support the worst when such a graphics backlog exists. Also, their RMA process for the EU is different than North America if I recall correctly, so that response you received isn't outlandish, especially since you didn't pay Zotac anything. While some companies do take on direct warranties with consumers, a vast majority have a logistics process in place through their established retailers. This isn't new or surprising, and they're not trying to skirt their warranty or any such nonsense.

As far as I remember, e-mailing rma@zotac.com will lead to their EU Support; am I to assume this is who you've already spoken to?

Yup. I mean I knew they wouldn't be able to do anything right away but the response given was just terrible.

if your card is under warranty, keep contacting them. keep track of all the information your sending, how long it take for them to reply. ect ect. because if this situation has a direct or indirect impact on ur work, then a case could be made in that situation. so keep a paper trail.

the mining crazy has nothing to do with you and you should not be trying to understand why they arent giving you 100% cooperation.

keep contacting zotec and keep escalating the case if u can. we have warranties for a reason and i know in canada... that shit isn't taken lightly or as a joke.

At least in my country you are supposed to contact the store you bought it from and that store is required to deal with it.

I guess it's the same in many other countries in Europe

Zotac has been great for me. They send me free swag every so often and when my 980ti died they sent me a 1080 instead.

Just a note guys:

Every country has its own rules regarding warranty.

 

  • Usually, for Europe based countries, it is with the seller, and the seller will deal with the manufacture after.
     
  • In North America, it is common that you deal with the manufacture directly as a consumer (or a company representing under license the company name product), after the store return period ends. (well, you can still do a warranty claim within the store return period, but usually it is a silly, as you tend to have  a refurbished product... why do that, when you can have a new one by exchanging it at the retail store. (I don't recommend doing a simple exchange as it doesn't reset the return period. I suggest to do a return, and buying it again as it does reset it, despite doing 2 transactions. :) )

 

Both have their ups and downs.

Same goes with Australia, it's the sellers responsibility to sort it out within the warranty period for you with the manufacturer. Outside of that you're sometimes SOL however..

I mean, we can never really rule out space magic. 

 

I am mostly confused with the problem in general. Depending on when the product was purchased, a lot of manufacturers refer to the retailer to process the RMA. We even have that here in the states with specific brands. Take EVGA's ram at Micro Center. EVGA is the ODM, but if it dies, you process the manufacturers warranty through the actual store, not EVGA, lol. 

 

As much as it sucks given the current GPU "crisis", you can't really fault a company for following the established policy that they have with the retailers.

In the EU, the retailer takes care of RMA's. They dont deal directly with the manufacturer like we do in the states. The fact is the retailer and Zotac are most likely out of cards. So the OP is boned.
