BWR - my new personal PC (again)

r3loAded

Hi everyone. So today I'm back with a new personal build. Not that I wasn't happy with my previous one (see signature) but I kind of got bored and even though I like those ring fans, there's too much light. So I had in hands a couple of components and there was a colour idea that kept coming in my mind. So I gave it a try. It's not yet my personal build but will most definitely will be as I'm quite excited about it and eager to finish it :)

The colour combination will be BLACK WHITE and RED. I think I might've went a little bit too far with the combination and it might look a little bit too much mixing of colours, but that can be changed. That's the SSDs and cable extensions. nothing that cannot be tweaked to look better:)

Please do remember that I build only with used components and I don't get to choose their colour. So I do my best to keep everything in colour.

Components list:

- i7-4790k

- Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark S (Sabranco)

- 16GB Avexir White DDR3 2400MHz

- Asus GTX 1080 Strix Gaming (from my current build)

- NZXT X41 AIO

- Corsair CX750M (grey)

- 128GB Hynix SSD + 128GB Sandisk Z400s SSD (new) + my old 320GB HDD (will have to replace this one at some point)

- NZXT S340 Elite

- 3x140mm + 1x120mm fans

For now I got only 3 pics where you can see current progress and the cable extensions that I ordered.

Cable extensions:

- WHITE for the GPU - the PSU cover is RED and the GPU is BLACK, so you guessed it, WHITE it is

- BLACK for the 24PIN extensions - the mobo is white and the flat "thingy" that covers that cable is RED. SO BLACK it is

- 8PIN CPU extension - the mobo is white again and the surrounding area is black, so RED is left to fill in the picture

This looks good so far, but why do I NOT see some RGB?:)

Thanks :)

To be honest I kind of had enough with all this RGB thing. But hey, if I ever decide to do so it's easy to add them later. I just want plain colours now. Simple, clean build. Unfortunately there is a light I wish to stop it but not sure if possible, the RAM light. It's white, which is fine but it so awful because it has a strobe effect on it. And I wouldn't want to change them as they are high performance ram and only got in stock corsair vengeance pro gold 1600MHz and some Kingston 1600MHz light blue heatsink.

EDIT: There's also red light (I will set them to red) from the Strix GPU and X41 aio.

If that is a Corsair kit, then you can use Corsair Link utility to remove that light, you rebel scum:D

Honestly, for a case like that, you need at least one LED strip.

Not necessarily, I would say, but I have 2x30cm white LED strips and could add them at any point.

If there is anything to do for the case, it's the tempered glass - I would totally add a tint to it, it's wayyyyyy to clear for my taste :)))

That's debatable as there might be a wire connected to the PCB itself on the RAM if you were to remove the heatsink.

All done. I would say it looks exactly as I planned it to look. But I have some software issues:

- aura sync doesn't want to work, no matter what, and I cannot control the RGB on the GPU (I want to set it on red)

- the USB 2.0 header for the X41 AIO is not recognized in Windows (might be faulty). I tried both USB 2.0 headers on the mobo, no luck (and they are not faulty as the fron USB 2.0 works)

That being said, I might buy the new NZXT AIO with the halo effect (I always wanted to own one). Also, I might add another SSD in the case, just to fill in the 3rd 2.5" slot :).

I might look for RED heatsink ram, as the current ones piss me of with thier blinking light. Might go for 4x4gb to fill in all the slots.

All I need now is to rent a bigger room and have a proper desk where to put all this beauties.

Enjoy they photos :)

In my opinion, that green light from GPU and white NZXT AIO just clashes with the colors too much:/ You gotta make them at least same color.

NZXT Cam software for the AIO and Asus Aura for the GPU.

Oh really? Well then, why in a world would you use two different types of cable combs for the PCI-E cables?!

No. Just no. I can't take this.

If you' need red ram (which I agree would look nice) go fore something like G.Skill Ripjaws V, they have a very nice full red

Time for an upgrade. Yeah, I know, already? Well the CX750M doesn't really like to ve stressed and makes a little bit if noise. So founf this PSU for just a tad more over half price. And it's brand new with 10 years warranty. £90 was the purchase price. Considering that I bought a better PSU, I decided to up the AIO with the Corsair H110i V2, as I intend to do some overclock to the CPU. While I'm at overclocking will go for the GPU as well, because free performance :).
