Need Gaming laptop suggestions-Under $2000

Hi guys,

Early last year (2017) I was scourging the internet looking for a budget laptop for gaming and VR. I came across these guys who reviewed the

MSI GP62MVR Leopard Pro-406 Laptop as the "best for budget VR gaming." Well, I'm not complaining since that was my first experience with MSI laptop and it did serve it's purpose remarkably. That said, I think it's time I made another shift for a better gaming and VR machine. Any suggestions? I would like to keep the price under $2000.

The MSI GP62MVR was packed with Intel’s Core i7-7700HQ processor, 256 GB SSD, great port selection, a full SteelSeries keyboard, 3GB Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU.

Anyone know of a laptop with better specs for that price. I wanna focus on improving my fps and a laptop with great cooling (there were no intake and outlet fans except for two on the underside, so the cooling was more passive on my MSI).

P/s Please recommend something you've used or know about. That's why I rely on forums. Thank you

I use this laptop as my portable gaming setup, it handles gaming EXTREMELY well, as well as other tasks such as video editing or streaming. You wont need to replace it for a LONG time because of the hardware inside. I definitely recommend buying this laptop!

I guess this is all personal preference, i prefer portability so i have a razer blade with a 1060 graphics, it runs everything i throw at it, however it can get noisy when the fans kick up, i normally wear headphones when gaming so this doesnt bother me much.

There are plenty of options out there now which give good thermals and such, i got an alienware 15 for less than 2k a while back (before my blade) which had a 1070 in it, its thermals were definitely better, but it didnt do my back any help when lugging it around :P

MSI GP series is a bit mediocre. Avoid GL-VS, runs like oven. Avoid Razer laptops too, quality issues.

You can get something with 1070 at that price point. My suggestions are Alienware 15/17, Clevo P650/P670/any similar models, Gigabyte/Aorus X5/X7 and MSI GT series. Also, is portability important to you?

Only read reviews from reputable websites with in depth analysis like Notebookcheck, Ultrabookreview and Laptopmedia

The Gigabyte Aero series are pretty awesome for sub-$2k

There are a few diffrent options in terms of screens/gpus etc: https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Aero-15W-BK4-i7-7700HQ-GeForce/dp/B01MY2YYKB/

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it. :P

Have you considered getting a non-gaming laptop (maybe a Raven Ridge one so you could do some light gaming) and building a desktop, or does it need to be portable?  You'd get a much more powerful VR system for your money.

Edit: This would beat the crap out of any $2000 gaming laptop

^ meh

If the person asked for a laptop then suggest a laptop instead of "oh you can build a gaming pc for 10$ less and get alot more power".
