connection of second monitor slow

so i have a smaller second monitor diy from old laptop. but it takes awhile to realize its connected and display every time i turn on my computer 

only hapenns when using display port of graphics card and not when on hdmi on motherboared

any suggestions to a fix?

I don't know what's cousing it, but a reinstall of your graphics drivers should be a good start
