What part/peripheral do you regret buying the most?

Gandek

If none kudos to you. I personally have experimented way too much with various peripherals I currently have 2 mice plugged in so yeah... For me it would have to be the Corsair K70 RGB Rapidfire its a nice keyboard and all but i really should have saved or spent that $140 I payed during summer of 2017 elsewhere. I bought my cousin a $45 Mechnaical keyboard (EagleTec KG010) and it made me really see i was overspending in that area. Nowadays you can even get a full size mechanical corsair keyboard for $69... Easy. The cpu, not because I bought it two weeks before Skylake launched. Because the HT E3 Xeons were a thing I didn't know about until after I had bought the i5-4590. $50 more would have effectively bought me i7 performance. Kind of stings tbh.

Although it wasn't terrible, I owned a Corsair 400d (I think that was its name... don't remember) case which I thought ran too hot when I had an R9 Fury GPU. The case was probably fine and I was probably more concerned than I should have been, but it was too large and unwieldy so it always stood out (negatively) in a room.

Fortunately I have proper airflow in my NZXT S340, so heat isn't an issue (sometimes I take off the front grill if I know I'll use it extensively for an extended period of time). It also looks decent and not so much out of place in my room.

CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.7 GHz

GPU: XFX GTS RX580 4GB

Cooling: Corsair h100i

Mobo: Asus z97-A

RAM: 4x8 GB 1600 MHz Corsair Vengence

PSU: Corsair HX850

Case: NZXT S340 Elite Tempered glass edition

Display: LG 29UM68-P

On the other hand, I'm enjoying the G710+ I bought at Wal Mart for $40, and have been laughing to the bank ever since.

Hmm, if anything it'd probably be just owning 2 super low budget laptops (a 2009 Acer Aspire One netbook and a 2014 HP 15") before upgrading to a used desktop a year ago. Believe me, my HP laptop with its AMD E1-2100 (1ghz Dual core APU) with a Radeon HD8210 iGPU wasn't even within spitting distance of my current system (Phenom X4 @ 3.6ghz and a 780ti). The APU system couldn't even playback DVDs for comparison, while my desktop rips and tears through some more modern titles like Paladins, Warframe, and Payday 2.

The netbook surprisingly holds up more as I still regularly use it for a portable emulation device, although because of Windows 7 I'm limited to this ultra janky "Joystick compatible" usb gamepad because Xbox controllers aren't supported.

CPU: AMD FX 4170 @ 4.7ghz Motherboard: Asus M5A97-R2.0 RAM: 11GB DDR3-1600 GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 780ti 3GB Reference Case: Cooler Master Storm Scout Storage: 1x 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM, 1x 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM, 1x 500gb Hitachi 7200RPM  PSU: Antec Earthwatts 650W Display: Dell U2410 (1920x1200 @ 60hz, 24") Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, 3x 140mm Cooler Master fan Keyboard: Lenovo OEM keyboard (membrane) Mouse: Redragon Centrophorus Sound: Sound Blaster xFi sound card & Marley Good Vibrations headphones Operating System: Windows 10 1809

The G710+.

I own a fuck ton of mech keyboards including cheapo ones, and this one's my least favorite...it's just...mush.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I should probably replace my potato Thermaltake 430 watt power supply at some point too, but my PC probably comsumes maybe some 200 watts under load, so I've never really bothered.

After rebate, mine wound up being $15. No magic smoke either, though I will probably swap it out when I add in some additional storage.

swapping it out with a seasonic, i suspect it to be the cause of all of my system instabilities.

I haven't had any sort of stability issue, even under load, though the 960 doesn't draw all that much power.

ok this might stir some shit up but.... ryzen 3 1200....

sure when you pair it with a high speed overclocked ram it is "fine" but just think about this:

intel high performane CPU + any ram at any speed. one stick is enough

amd low end CPU + expensive ram. 2 of them

which one makes more sense?

you always regret getting the lower end parts... you always do.

also a razer deathadder.

Dell P2416D. 1440p display, sure. but the viewing angel and everything feels like meh. compares to my old S2340L.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Razer Blackwidow. Looks cool but its just trash. Thankfully the resale value is high so you can just sell them on. Razer green switches are just awful.

My Logitech G710+ is just golden before I had to sell it, was surprised had to buy second hand as well because they don't seem to stock them anymore.
