Which Laptop to buy?

Hello,

I am currently looking to buy a laptop. I'm going into university next year for engineering, so portability might be a factor, however I do not have a desktop, so it should be good for gaming as well. I would like to get something with decent build quality, screen as well as specs vs size and weight. I'll be using it as my main machine (no more desktop). I am looking on eBay and Craigslist for the best bang for the buck deals (living in Vancouver BC Canada)

So far the best options seem to be:

$1000(CAD)-Aorus X7 V5 (i7 6820hk, 970m SLI, 75hz IPS GSYNC Screen, 16GB DDR4, RAID 0 NVME SSDS 512GB, Metal build and relatively light, but 17.3" and 6.6 pounds)

$900(CAD)-Razer Blade 14" 2015 (i7 4720HQ, 970m, 60HZ QHD+ Screen, 16GB DDR3, 256GB NVME SSD, Metal build and quite light and portable at 14" and 4.5 pounds)

Also are there any suggestions for better options then this? It's hard to choose between the Aorux and Blade, which is the better deal?

Also will the HDMI 1.4a on the blade work with a 1080p 144hz Asus monitor? I want to use it for games such as CSGO which it can drive at 144 frames. The Aorus Gsync and 75hz screen seems compelling.

Thanks for any help!

Honestly as long as you have a 17.3" laptop bag, carrying a larger machine around shouldn't be a problem. It hasn't bothered me at least, but I would suggest a 980m machine so you will be able to use it for years to come. Sli is dead and the razer blade is a bad machine (don't listen to Linus, he has a terrible sense in laptops)

Try this one out and give it a repaste and I guarantee that you won't be dissatisfied.

Okay, I'll have a look at that.

Do you have any other recommendations, for example some other models?

Thank you for your help thus far.

Saw this on Craigslist, but otherwise I can't find too much else.

Thanks for your help,

I'll have a look. Only issue is maybe the Aorus is better then that if I'm going that large?

Also the Alienware is a bit too "gamery" for me. I want to use it in university and if it's heavy maybe it's not the best option.

The razer is quite compelling since its super light.

Anyway, I'll have a look.

Thanks!
