GTX 1050Ti (4GB) vs GTX 1060 (3GB) on PUBG?

Hey there, so I’m wondering if the capabilities of a 1060 to render the game will be bottlenecked by the 3GB VRAM. I’ll be parting ways with my beloved PC for a few years for the sake of my degree, and am planning to get a laptop that allows me to play PUBG, and before you say anything, prices for a 1060 6GB are utterly f*cked in my region so it’s between these 2 that I know can run PUBG decently. Ish. I guess. 

 

P.s. to anyone that has experience with shipping an entire pc and monitor (or any other fragile valuable) across continents, I beg of thee to share

Yeah, I've heard PUBG uses a lot of VRAM.

less VRAM, so what. 1060 3gb still slaps the 1050ti's ass with it's much more powerful core, even when it's borrowing system RAM as VRAM.

If you leave AA and Post Processing off, with everything else on low or very low should allow you to get decent fps (60+ at 1080p) 90% of the time (PUBG still has garbage optimization so you'll never get 60+ 100% of the time on any system). 

The faster GPU and less VRAM will run better then the slower GPU core with more VRAM. So GTX 1060 3gb.

My cousin runs it at a steady 140-144 fps on his desktop, with an i7 8700K and 1080, so you can get 60+ easily. But for a laptop, that will be pretty hard, PUBG is a really intensive game. Should manage 60fps most of the time with the right settings though.

I used to play pro. There is no system to date that gets 60+ FPS all the time in comp games. 

Final circle with 16 people alive, 6 cars, probably about 20 smokes, game engine just chokes. (35 FPS on a 1070 Ti, 8700k, 32GB 3000Mhz)

I think they updated it with better optimization though, if it was getting that massive of fps drops, my cousin would have told me. He does have G-Sync though, but you'd still notice that massive of a drop.

For casual players, they'll never notice a difference. MM games in PUBG run very well in comparison to custom competitive matches. Way more people alive in later zones and the server struggles a lot.

Hmmmm... if he plays hard he does get into the top 2% within a week... so I'd say he's competitive. New to PC tho, so perhaps he doesn't notice? But I played a game or two in both TPP and FPP, and didn't notice any drops below 130, stayed at 140-144 most of the time.

Leaderboards mean nothing. Invite leagues is what I'm talking about. PUBGOnline Showdown, GLL, Auzom Premier League, etc. 

Many of the late game fights in those leagues are like dropping at school and having people fight you all game there. 

I topped out at 145th on the NA FPP leaderboards btw.
