Home Development Server (Kubernetes Edition)

its been a while since i been building my own equipment, but i gave it a try a few month ago and made the jump back to pc (from mac), now i want to complement my setup and save a little bit of money from cloud expenses.

the idea here is to get the max number of cores/threads without breaking the bank, I was looking at no more than 700Euros tops (buying everything preferably locally in Spain.), with a budget like that it was obvious fast that Intel was a no go so i started looking at the new ryzen CPU's

here is the base idea for this.

Corsair SF450 SFX 450W 80 Plus Gold Modular -- 88euros

Thermaltake Core V21 -- 64euros

Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 2133 16GB -- 176euros

MSI A320M PRO-VH PLUS -- 60euros

AMD RYZEN 7 1700 3.7GHZ -- 271euros

still not sure about CPU cooler, i definitely don't need a GPU for this, also not sure if motherboard for this CPU can use DDR3 which would make the build cheaper.

i don't really care about ultra-high performance as this is just development, will probably be running up to 50 containers that will be idle most of the time, kubernetes master components will be running of a barebones i already have a gigabyte gb-bxi3h- 5010 nothing out of the ordinary but more than enough to run kube master components with the number of nodes and pods this will be running.

would love to hear what you guys think about this, maybe there are better hardware options for something like this.

How about a used r710? about the same performance, much more ram, and normally cheaper.

For that system:

-you need a gpu to post on many boards.

- You need ddr4

assuming you meant a poweredge, they do meet core and threads requirement, but its huge, also asking around a few friends that used them, its super noisy, my home office is quite small, and i don't really have space for such a big rackable case, also noisy is a problem, something that's super noisy its out of the question as no matter where i put it it will very near me.
