Are you running something like unigine valley, because scenes have to come and go, so core clocks and memory clocks will fluctuate.

Afterburner can show the throttling reasons of the GPU. It's in the same section as the rest of the stuff like clock speed, usage, temperature etc. They call it voltage limit, power limit, something like that.

6700k at 4.8GHz with 8GB RAM, so likely not CPU bottleneck

It's bouncing too fast for that. Scenes in these tests last at least 5 seconds each.

Ok, seems concerning.

Can you remove your drivers with DDU, then reinstall them? Try different driver versions if the one you're using keep this up after reinstalling.

Download DDU from wagnardsoft.com

Just registered here to bump this topic ..because I have same problem..

Mine started after my comp freezed while playing Overwatch - After freeze I installed new nVidia drivers (because I thought that was the problem) and then noticed in game that my fps drops alot.. (Like in pattern: +144 -> ~40 -> +144) - I checked GPUz and noticed that also my GPU's clocks are fluctuating..

Before this problem, everything worked fine... I can use my comp in daily use, but gaming (or anything that uses GPU) is no-no..

Here gif from OW's fps counter

GPU-Z screenshot - that flat part is before I started the game

My rig:

AsusROG Maximus VII Ranger mobo
i7 4790k

Gigabyte GTX 980ti

32gb DDR3
3x HDD 2x SSD
Corsair RM850x PSU

Already tried:
- Cleaned all drivers with DDU and installed new ones (latest and also tried older ones)
- Checked if my CPU does same thing with stress test = CPU is fine
- Tested my PCI-e ports

- Checked all settings from windows "power management"
- Checked all settings from Nvidia control panel

- Numerous tips from other forums without success

Thanks in advance if someone finds a solution...

Hello All,

I realise this is an old thread but I am experiencing this EXACT same issue.  like EXACT!!  Nothing different!

I created my account simply to ask here is this was ever resolved and if so, what was the root cause and resolution?

Please can someone tell me what they did to resolve this?

Thanks

Wolvy

Check PerfCap reason in GPU-Z. I suggest make a new thread about it.
