Question about Bluetooth vs 2.4 GHz headsets

Hi, folks.

Couple months ago I purchased a bluetooth headset for my gaming needs because I was quite tired of losing even good quality headsets due to cable wear. Sound quality was actually quite good, but as soon as any software turns the headset's microphone on, such as when entering voice chat on Overwatch or entering a Discord voice channel, the sound quality becomes horrible. From what I've researched over the internet, this is due to bluetooth audio drivers on windows automatically activate handsfree audio mode when a wireless microphone is enabled, which reduces sound quality to telephone level, which is absolutely terrible for gaming, especially in games where spatial/environmental noise is a gamebreaker, like CS:GO.

So, my question is: do 2.4 GHz wireless headsets suffer from the same quality loss? Are wireless headsets definitely a no-go for gaming?

Thanks in advance.

mine does that too...it's a sennheiser urbanite XL wireless...it doesnt bother me much cause i use another separate mic but it's doing it too...and i do believe they are all like that because the microphone on there is made to handle your phone calls.

I use astro a50 wireless which work on xbox and pc (they also make one for ps4/pc). It works on 2.4 , is virtual 7.1 surround sound and i have never noticed a drop in qaulity or loss of spatial awareness before. I have played cs:go and never noticed anything whether im using discord or in game chat.
