20 Gb USB is probably corrupt. No information on drive, cannot format.

That means your usb is pretty dead. Also by the fact that it unformated itself means that already all your data is gone. If you cant create a partition it means that your usb is 100% dead.

I get...

"New SImple Volume" (not greyed out)

"New Spanned Volume" (greyed out)

"New Striped Volume" (greyed out)

"New Mirrored Volume" (greyed out)

"New RAID-5 Volume" (greyed out)

"Properties" (not greyed out)

"Help" (not greyed out)

I said new simple volume, the only option on usb sticks

No matter which options I try, windows can't find the file? It's literally invisible.

Create a new simple volume and follow the setup wizard. Drive should be ready to use after that.

Doesn't work, go to 2nd Page.

Okay, for this process you are going to need another USB drive.  Borrow or steal one if you don't already have one.

  1. Install EaseUS Todo Backup.
  2. Plug in the working drive ONLY.
  3. Format the working flash drive as NTFS and save a single text file on it.
  4. Use Todo Backup to create a backup image of it (not just a file backup)
  5. Close Todo Backup
  6. Unplug the flash drive and plug the corrupt one in.
  7. Open Todo Backup
  8. Restore the image you just created to the broken drive.

Hopefully, that will fix your issue. This has happened to me several times before, and that's the only way I've found to fix it.

Will try it if nothing else works, currently a bit skeptical because if Windows can't find the drive somehow, I don't think that the software will.

If it can't even do that, the drive may just have had it completely.

I'd suggest downloading SDFormatter and seeing if it can get it back to normal. It's what I use when I have a stubborn USB drive that doesn't want to be formatted.

That's exactly what happened to mine.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

We will forever remember you...

"He was good son,

Real good,

Maybe even the best."

On a serious note that is a long lifespan for a usb stick.

Death can happen at any time, without a sign . That is why you should spend as much of your precious time you have with your loved ones, because death doesnt give a warning.

You can probably do a firmware reset if you have the model number, but really these things are $5 so . . .

if you are up to try more.

1. Use an Ubuntu live disk and see if it is showing

2. Use a Hiren's BootCD and try a partition manager inside mini Windows XP
