Mobo for ryzen 5 1600?

the x370 platform is well if looking to overclock to the maximum potential, but not all x370 motherboards are capable.

b/ab350 are for cost efforts for nominal overclocking.

the asus pro is a good foundation for OCing

there are no z boards for ryzen at this moment.

for cost, the 1600 (nonX) is the best value as the OC potential is similar. and use the money saved towards best RAM pricing.

if not OCing, the the X can yield best performance out-of-the-box experience.

RAM is a cluster to nail. getting the ryzen on the 2933MHz or higher is best for performance, but RAM pricing might obscure that and you'll have to settle for a bit of a performance hit.

Hero 6 is the best hands down but ryzen chip it's self is the limitation not the board so u will likely get same results for oc with a b350 tomahawk as a hero6

Not true. I have managed 0.1-0.05 GHz more overclock on the same just chip just by changing to more high-end VRM (on a higher motherboard)

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

If nothing else has changed recently, the Asus Prime B350-Plus was one of the better B350 boards. I got 4.0 GHz on my 1600X using that board and it wasn't fussy at all. It's currently $95 on Amazon.

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

GPU: RTX 3080 Ti FE

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Tuf X570 Plus Wifi

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53

PSU: EVGA G6 Supernova 850

Case: NZXT S340 Elite

Current Laptop:

Model: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900HS

GPU: RTX 3060

RAM: 16GB @3200 MHz

Old PC:

CPU: Intel i7 8700K @4.9 GHz/1.315v

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A

Right now the B350's would be the best option as new AM4 motherboards are about to come out and X370 boards don't overclock any more than B350's.
