Too good to be true 4 port Gigabit PCI-e adapter?

J-Dogg

Hello.

I need a 4 port Gigabit PCI-e adapter for my freenas server. i found this

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-PCIE-PCI-Express-1000Mbps-Network-Server-Adapter-Card/263241271448?hash=item3d4a670898:g:n14AAOSwhYdZ0dEz

However its no brand and cheap price is somewhat concerning, can anyone with experience vouch for this product. And if its no good perhaps recommend a reasonably priced alternative that is available in Australia.

Cheers, :)

Any luck finding used enterprise NICs? Usually you can find used dell or HP NICs for pretty cheap. Or even Intel ones.

they are a little more expensive. However will certainly pay more if this is a no go.

I wouldn't recommend getting it. It's running at x1 speed, and it looks pretty sketchy.

My native language is C++

I do not recommend getting non-branded ones. You have no idea, if and what drivers they use (are they stable), how reliable they are etc.

I suggest paying a little extra and getting one from a known brand (HP, Dell, Intel). Although watch out, there are many clones on eBay.

I have used HP NC364T and Intel i340-T4 network cards myself and these work great.

This is way cheaper.

If you need full height (although you could take a dremmel to that half height one)
