Apple’s New Spaceship Campus Has One Flaw – and It Hurts

(Bloomberg) -- The centerpiece of Apple Inc.’s new headquarters is a massive, ring-shaped office overflowing with panes of glass, a testament to the company’s famed design-obsessed aesthetic.

There’s been one hiccup since it opened last year: Apple employees keep smacking into the glass.

Surrounding the Cupertino, California-based building are 45-foot tall curved panels of safety glass. Inside are work spaces, dubbed “pods,” also made with a lot of glass. Apple staff are often glued to the iPhones they helped popularize. That’s resulted in repeated cases of distracted employees walking into the panes, according to people familiar with the incidents.

LMAO. Basically, the employees at the headquarters are on their phones a lot, even while walking. Because of this, they get distracted, and walk right into the panes of glass.

Quote

Some staff started to stick Post-It notes on the glass doors to mark their presence. However, the notes were removed because they detracted from the building’s design, the people said. They asked not to be identified discussing anything related to Apple. Another person familiar with the situation said there are other markings to identify the glass.

A E S T H E T I C > Safety. Great logic, I agree.

Quote

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment. It’s not clear how many incidents there have been. A Silicon Valley-based spokeswoman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration referred questions about Apple’s workplace safety record to the government agency’s website. A search on the site based on Apple’s name in California found no reports of injuries at the company’s new campus.

No reports of injuries. You would think that somebody would have been given a broken nose or something.

Quote

It’s not the first time Apple’s penchant for glass in buildings has caused problems. In late 2011, 83-year-old Evelyn Paswall walked into the glass wall of an Apple store, breaking her nose. She sued the company, arguing it should have posted a warning on the glass. The suit was settled without any cost to Apple, according to a legal filing in early 2013.

Jeez man. This is why then need markings. I am telling you, 83 year olds aren't going to be glued to their phones, they look where they are going.

In conclusion:

Apple, get your act together.

Not the first time.  The Apple store in Chicago has a fancy roof design ... which allows ice cones to fall on the heads of passers-by.  They have to rope off a large area at the side of the store in the winter.

According to Apple they only had to rope off the areas because the roof heating system wasn't working properly (but was presumably promptly fixed). Of course you can argue that it's a bad design if it needs help to accommodate snow, but that's kind of the nature of architecture.

So basically the morons that are too addicted to their phones are walking into glass... Makes sense. Perhaps natural selection will take place and they'll walk off of something.

eBay amp: Generic 100w with terrible traits

PC -> 3.5mm to RCA -> L = Speaker Set3, R = Pre Amp -> Amp -> Speaker Set1/2

Speaker Set3 = Subwoofer (Altec Lansing VS4121 subwoofer, the amp is using the built in amp with that sub)

Another case of not apple's fault if people in 2018 still haven't learned to walk while looking down on their phone without bumping into people on the street, crossing the street when the light is red, and hitting glass obstructions. This people should just get with the times and develop the skills of the modern age

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

This is the fault of both I think. Glass being a naturally transparent thing doesn't really bode well for anyone being used as a replacement to a physical wall. However it is equally the fault of the person for not looking where they are going if they are looking down at their phones.
