How will the know the difference between something someone uploaded off a camera phone and a copyrighted image?

The future 2050

Teacher: Why did it take you so long to create a PowerPoint?

Student: I had to get permission from companies so I could use their logos in my PowerPoint. I also had to get permission to use each individual word because words are copyrighted now.

Teacher: This is perfectly acceptable and I adore how our society has chosen to use ample amounts of time.

If photographers don't want their ultra high-res photos downloaded, they should have their site setup better to prevent Google from web-crawling it.

Better check my rights really quick, breathing might be copyrighted now and I need to pay Bilbo McMoneyBags before I can take a breath.

Any image taken/created recently is copywritten. Technically, they could apply this to all images, but it'll probably just be for stock image companies.

That's the rub... will they go all out and say All ur images are belong to us? What if Getty says oh this image is ours but it actually is not?

If they do, there will be a mass exodus to the best search engine that provides images at full resolution available: Bing.

Lest we forget, Getty Images is known for extorting people with their copyright claims, and in fact IIRC this one time they extorted a photographer about copyright on photos that she owned the rights for.

Couple links:

https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150908/18123432199/getty-images-tries-to-copyright-troll-2600-magazine-over-content-it-has-no-copyright-over.shtml

Of course they would be participating in this kind of thing. I wonder if Google was paid money by them to implement this, since it makes copyright trolling so much easier to do on their side.

This has happened in the past and it has not apparently been enough to make them stop, so I don't foresee them stopping.

Yeah I think that's where I'll be headed if this is rolled out in maximum strength.

I've basically moved over completely to Bing. Only time I use Google is if Firefox resets search settings.

You mean asking Cortana to search for porn is better than just using Google myself? *mindblown* Assistants have a use after all.

Well Cortana uses Bing as the default search engine so... actually correct that, Cortana basically just searches Bing for everything I say, even if it's "make a reminder".

Most browsers you can simply drag the image and it will open up in a new window or just right click, view image whether or not you can still do that I don't know. I've been using edge for a while now and they don't have any way of opening an image in new window you have to save it.

Pro tip: you can right click on the image and click "view image" in the dropdown menu to view it normally.

A lot more hassle, but it does work. I just now googled "dogs", picked a random image, did that, and got this as a result: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/SfLV8hD7zX4/maxresdefault.jpg

Shhh! We don't want this getting 'patched'

Is this going to affect all images? I wouldn't mind the move for stuff that we *shouldn't* be obtaining direct hd images of (E.G Actual stuff meant to be protected like Depositphotos and what not) Also wouldn't mind if it forced me to goto the respective page for like deviantart creations, I think that'd be fair.

No effect so far though. Google Chrome / Am Signed In. Tried a few normal searches alongside a stock image search which is protected.

To be fair, before 1997, "google it" would have sounded retarded too.
