LTX Around the World

Victoria. Happy to see it in Richmond this year, might not have to catch the 7am ferry over.

Managed to keep the day under $100 last year - park the car at the Victoria terminal, walk on, TransLink DayPass and ride the ghetto limos. If I'm feeling really saucy I could take the car over and squeeze in a trip to Ikea. Or take my 10 yr old with me to LTX and my wife could hit up the Ikea while the dude and I geek out.

this time you don't need the ghetto limbo as you can take:

Then you would have to walk through that shitty ghetto industrial area..

I rather take the time to take the C94.

London to Vancouver is approx £500 in the summer, and a flight from Madrid to London is less than £100.

You might want to have a look into coming to the UK as a stop then onto Vancouver. Those prices are for return flights too.

I must be doing it wrong, when I looked everything flying direct to Vancouver near LTX dates were around £1000 unless I either connect in France, or take very specific dates further out which would be a long stay. Not a bad thing, but flight saving would be offset by hotel costs instead. Seattle was much cheaper but that significantly increased travel complexity.

As much as I want to go, even if flight costs were halved I'm having a hard time justifying the spend to myself as other costs will still add up. Maybe another year.

Depends on which airport in the UK you go from too.

When I posted at first it was £500 from Manchester to Vancouver in July/August...now its £650.

If you're looking at Heathrow then £1000 is about right.

Heathrow is my local airport. Everything else would take forever to get to or too small for a long haul.

Seattle has good train and bus connections. ~$70 for a train to Pacific Ctrl Stn (Vancouver) from Seattle Central. Even less for a bus.

Once you get to Pacific Ctrl Stn, Main Street SkyTrain Station is a 3-5 minute walk away, just need to cross a side street.

I little more than a 15 minute walk :P jks

Anyways if I do attend this (this year or another) I'll be taking the train. Currently I can't seem to figure out how I got under $600 but I did :P Which is about the same cost as a flight, just 1,000,000,000,000 better of a view. Maybe next year I'll be able to pay in Linus Coins for my trip :)

I'm hoping to see some live stream. I'm live in UK but I'm Polish, so there's no chance to get a visa ;p

A modern Polish passport (biometric) will do. Just have to fill out the 'eTA' forms, pay ten bucks and you're good to go from a formal stand point.

Good old England. The flights are bloody extortionate though so don't know whether it's going to happen in the end.

Booo.. a work/family function came up on the same day as LTX so I cannot go.  And I work pretty much across the street from Linus Media so I'm probably the closest in location of all the non staff.  I'll be there in spirit.
