What Kind of Gear Do You Own and Use Everyday?

1823alex

I'm curious what everyone here uses. As well as what you like or dislike about each piece of gear you're using. I just picked up a broken 50 1.4 for $120 and fixed it (focus ring issue).

My kit:

Canon T3i

Canon 18-55 IS II & 55-250 IS II Kit lenses

Canon 24mm f2.8

Canon 50mm 1.8 & now the 50mm 1.4

Canon 28-105 USM (original one from the 80s/90s.)

Gaming Rig - Excalibur - CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.1GHz, CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo, Mobo: MSI Gaming M3 RAM: 16GB Corsair @2400MHz, GPU: EVGA 1060, Case: NZXT Phantom Full Tower (Red)

My Virtualization Server - Dell R710: 2x X5570s @ 2.93GHz with 32GB DDR3 RAM [Web Server, OSX, Plex, Reverse Proxy]

I love computers, gaming, coding, and photography! Be sure to quote me so I can respond to your post!

I use GoPro Hero 5 Black. I like that its small and easy to setup. I like the voice controls. I can use it virtually anywhere without drawing in much attention. And I think it's got some pretty good basic setup. I wish I could mount small lenses on it like you can with a smart phone. Plus its durable and water proof. I'd like a DSLR or something; however, they are super expensive.

Edit: I do have several film cameras such as a old Leica my grandfather got in German during WW2, an old Rolleiflex that I don't know where to get film for, and a late 90's model cannon. I don't know the model, so I'd have to look it up. But I don't have time for film, and am too broke to upgrade for DSLR. The GoPro fits many uses from YouTube videos to family videos fishing and stuff like that. So it gets used nearly daily.

Going to a conference in Frankfurt, not a long time free but I hope to squeeze a couple of hours of shooting, may evwn wake up at 5 to fit it in.

Fuji xt10 with the excellent 23 f/2 attached, 16mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/2. extra sd card, think tank pouch, camera strap and lee seven5 grad filter in case I catch a sunrise. The 3lt Leo is already packed in my carry on.

Lumix GH5

Lumix 14-45mm

Lumix 45-200mm

Rokinon 24mm

Rokinon 35mm

Rokinon 85mm

It gets the job done for quality video and stills are not half bad. The 3/4 sensor is the biggest bummer, but sadly we didn't have the budget to get a good full frame.

Everyday?

Well everyday the Nikon D810 with the Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens. But since a few days (and when I feel fancy) also the Nikon F3 with the NIKKOR 85mm

f1.8D.

Basically brand new, i'm still using D200.
Just love the form factor, crop sensor in a fully-featured pro body. Tried D7000 for a while and although the image quality is far superior (D200 start getting noisy at 320 ISO) the body fill less comfortable to me. Now that the old D200 start killing it's batteries i'm considering upgrading to D500, the true successor to the Dx00 family.

For lenses i mostly use fast primes. i have 30mm and 50mm f/1.8, along side 60mm, 90mm and even 400mm prime (that's really need professional cleaning at this point). for zoom i have 12-24 f/4, 17-50 f/2.8, 70-300 f/4-5.6 that i barely use and finally Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 that i got second hand for stupid cheap. about 450$ when new one cost 2,500$ around here at the time. Actually, apart from the 50mm i think all my lenses are second hand. as they offer great value.

I've got a hi-lo mix.

 My "serious" landscape kit includes
Sony A7rIII

Sony 16-35mm 2.8 GM

Canon 70-22mm f/4 (non-IS) via Sigma MC-11 adapter

Tokina 20mm f/2 Firin lens (for shooting the stars)

I'd like to get a Sony 24-105mm f/4, but I blew all my money on the A7rIII and 16-35 GM. It'll have to wait.

My other camera is just a Panasonic GX-850 w/ 12-32mm. I just chuck this in a pocket when I got out just in case I see something interesting and what something better than what my phone can capture.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

Tempted by Sony mirrorless for video, don't know if i will eventually switch to it, DSLR and Canon is kinda my thing. Still looking to get serious work with my gear again, it's kinda hard when you switch countries, and general lack of motivation is also a problem. Oh well, nice weather is ahead, i'm usually more active in the spring/summer :)
