HD CRT vs HDR OLED

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

How does a HD CRT tv compare to today's HDR OLED TVs? Brightness output, contrast, color, and motion performance. Compare from HDR sources such as 4K Blu-ray, streaming, and gaming.  Could be a good video for LMG to do. Would love to know how a HD CRT tv stacks up against current TV tech.

Another thing to add would be a (really damn good) 1080p Plasma to the mix. (Pioneer Elite?)

A Pioneer Kuro would indeed be nice to see a comparison of - though it would likely be easier to get the last gen Panasonic Plasma's, which essentially matched or surpassed the Kuro's, since they bought all the tech and integrated it into the final few models.

I honestly don't think an HD CRT would match up very well. Some things it might still excel at, but I think an OLED (or Plasma) would likely destroy it, overall.

There are no HD CRTs that are capable of processing HDR signals.  An HDR comparison involving an HD CRT wold be impossible.

I would love to see a comparison like that! And maybe also add some LED TV?
