what do you use to study ?

So I think everyone has to study well what do you use to study ?

I personally will listen to ambient noises or to lo-fi it also help calming my nerves before a test

I also do a ton of 15 min power naps before working on projects or essays etc 

 

so what do you do ?

Silence and a timed study/break cadence (~1hr on, 5-10min off) are what works best for me.

 

Sometimes, I'll have music that I despise or other white noise playing in the background. I find I don't get distracted by the music if it's non-verbal noise. Anything with lyrics is distracting, but anything instrumental that I like is also distracting.

 

Before midterms and finals I would redo every homework assignment and exam that we'd been given to make sure I understood the prior material, referencing the solutions when stumped. Then I'd do them again and add in new problems to make sure I knew the material and the underlying theory cold. Worked very well.

50's, 60's, 70's music, turn the monitor off, and I put my phone away. I always write what I am going to study, even if I already have notes. I read my notes, book, and I listen to lecture recordings and look at slides and write all over my notebook. Every hour I take a five to ten minute - 30 minute water break/toilet use, and get back to it. Once I write it all down I go over it once or twice then I am good to go. I am a last minute person for essays. Tests eh, at least a day or two ahead.

I don't really study, but if I'm doing some homework or a report or something ill listen to some relatively calm music, or nothing. Anything too fast or good and ill get distracted by. I even get distracted by a good piece of classical music, such as Beethoven's 9th.

sparkling water or mint tea to drink (just something I do most nights) as for food if I know its going to be a long time cookies.

I have never studied in my life.  Never needed to for some reason.

I didn't study. The material stayed in my head well enough to do well.

I find I am more productive on online work because I get bored for some reason on paper and its much easier to turn it in when I'm done online and I cannot lose it so the integration to laptops at school has helped me lol, but I do get your guys points.

I used to "over-study" (this is certainly a thing imo)

I would find myself spending hours in a row, feelings of anxiety(more then what I now believe to be a "normal" amount), and feelings of agitation/frustration.

Now I simply do my best to focus on the content that I'm studying, and to study a little bit each day. This way, I can spend an hour or two a day on school work, not feel stressed out, and still get grades that are just fine by my standard.
