22 cores on the e5 2699 v4. There are 24 core on lga 2011-v3 but it probably won't work on this board.

That has 18 cores :(https://ark.intel.com/products/series/78583/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-v3-Family

Literally you can google lga 2011-v3 xeon and pull up intel and the highest they have on their website is 18 cores

2011-v3 is the SOCKET TYPE, not processor version

the 22 core Xeon people have been talking about seems like the highest core cound chip that can go in that board

if you would look on the site it says it only supports E5 V4 chips... the V3 is the socket refresh, not the Xeon one

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Without the BIOS updated, the 2699v3 with 18 cores is your best bet. There is a cheaper ES version of this CPU, but beware as intel technically does not allow this. Additionally, there is the OEM 2696v3 with a slight core clock change iirc but otherwise no difference, and it is also cheaper.

With the BIOS updated to the newest version for that board, you will be able to support the Broadwell-E v4 version of that same CPU, the 2699v4 with 22 cores. The ES and OEM versions apply here as well. As for how to update the bios, well, you probably know how to do that - but you will probably need some cheap crappy Xeons to be able to boot into the bios and update, as I'm not sure if the board has USB Bios flashback. For that, consider a pair of the ES Xeon E5-2609 V3. They can be had for $60 each.
