Hooking my Computer to my TV

So i have 2 controllers for my PC and have some cool fighting and racing games to play, if i hook my computer up to my 38'' tv will it lag my games?

My setup is:

i5 3570k
8gb ram
7950

What resolution is it?

i assume your tv is a standard 1080p

Ok, another question; do i just plug the hdmi cable in and off i go? or do i have to unplug my current screen first? do i need to restart pc?

it would be better to shut down your pc move it to the tv area and plug everything in and then turn it on

oh no, my pc is like next to my tv lol so its in hdmi cable radius

Plug it all in and then turn on your PC.

 

If your PC was not near the TV (like mine) would there be any way to stream to the tv rather than moving the PC.

Thats fine, so i have to switch off pc then plug it in? And do i need to unplug it from my monitor aswell?
