CPU Cooler Performance Tier List

I'm after a new cooler to replace my Arctic Freezer 33 eSports One due to it not blending in with my aesthetics, and I caught that the Deepcool Neptwin V2 is on the same tier as the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo which was my initial choice.

How do the Freezer 34 eSports Duo and Neptwin V2 compare? One is a single tower dual-fan and the other is a dual-tower dual-fan with two extra heatpipes so I'm wondering if those extras give the Neptwin V2 a bigger edge?

ok so i just found thisThermalright silver arrow Extreme IB-E HFS

for around like 35usd i know its not the best deal for a used Cooler, but i want it. So im planning on replacing the fan and cleaning, the question is How to do it? do i just spray air duster all over the Heatsink or just spray it with water? and pls add what fan should i get for quietness but not that expensive, pls im doing a budget build with a athlon 200ge so dont imagine anything like a premium fan from Noctua or something, but i have a case fan from Fractal Design Silent Series R3 140mm fan that i dont use.

It's an excellent cooler and a pretty solid deal as long as it comes with the AM4 mounting hardware. It comes with a dual-ball bearing fan which is very long lasting so it should still be serviceable unless it's gotten noisy. It could probably cool your cpu semi-passively with just the case rear exhaust fan.

The heatsink can be sprayed with compressed air or washed with water as long as it's fully dried before installation. The fan can just be wiped down with some paper towels and care.

The Neptwin V2 is better and just a bit behind the NH-U14S in performance whereas the eSports Duo is a bit behind the NH-U12S.

Is this thing is big enough to cause a Problem on a M-ATX board? I'm using it for B450m Pro 4 and don't find anything useful for ram and gpu clearance. And for the fans IDK how long the owner had use it for.

Hi..

I want to ask about this one. Just a cheap similar to the Intel stock cooler but looks cooler, although I'm not sure if it performs cooler. ?

It's "Aigo Darkflash Shadow"

Do you think it can handle the i7-8700K stock turbo boost?

I want to get it as a temporary cooler whenever I need in urgent. It only costs $15 USD. Even just for urgent/emergency, I want to do it with style.. LOL

It's probably enough with any motherboard auto oc turned off and maybe a bit of undervolting.

Last I checked, it should be a bit better than the Intel stock cooler. I'm not sure how credible the data I came across was though.

I'm planning to cool a i9-9900k which I'm going give a constant decent OC. To cool it I was planning to use a 360mm AIO, mainly because I'd like to properly occupy the space on the case I bought and on average they seem to have a pretty decent performance. Which one on the tier 1 category is recommended for under $200 (Since stuff like the ASUS Ryujin is over $200)?
The options I was looking at were:

Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB 360 Premium
Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate
CoolerMaster MasterLiquid 360R RGB
Enermax Liqtech II 360
Fractal Design Celsius S36
NZXT Kraken X72

The H60 2018 should be the quietest. The other 3 are pretty similar unless you're aiming for a heavier oc in which the L240 ends up being the quietest.

The Floe Riing seems to be one of the better performing ones if that's what you're aiming for. https://www.nikktech.com/main/articles/pc-hardware/cpu-cooling/liquid-cpu-coolers/8960-thermaltake-floe-riing-rgb-360-tt-premium-edition-liquid-cpu-cooler-review?start=6

i though hsf would be quieter because it has no pump noise?

either way i think im getting the l240 since its cheaper than h60 and i heard rgb give you 10 more fps XD

How come you have the original Scythe Fuma in King of Woosh, then the Fuma Rev B not in dual towers, just high end 140's? Why is the Rev B worse than the original?

Also you have the Scythe Ninja 4 and 5 in dual towers when it's just a single tower with cross cuts in it.

The original you could apply a lot more pressure to the motherboard, thus decreasing temps. However it came at a (possibly) big cost of breaking the mobo.

The Fuma Rev. B comes with the HMPS II mounting kit which couldn't be overtightened as much as the HMPS that shipped with the original Fuma. This was done to prevent damage -- especially the cpus with thinner pcbs like Skylake. You can see an example of the performance between different mounting pressures here: https://www.overclockers.com/scythe-fuma-heatsink-review/

The tier names are arbitrary and a rough summary of what's to be expected but not a hard rule.

I don't understand what the difference is between each tier. And its real life impact on performance (overclocking etc)

The tiers arbitrarily draw lines where there would otherwise be gray areas of overlap and no lines drawn. Optimally, there would just be a single list in order of performance without coolers bundled together and possibly no tiers but I don't have have the tools to make that list yet.

Impact on oc'ing potential varies from a case to case basis since it isn't always limited by thermals.

Any reason you're looking at Scythe in particular?

What cpu, ram, and case are you using?

Looking at scythes for performance to price ratio from the benchmarks and reviews I've seen so far. Case clearance is 160mm and I'm using a b450 gaming pro carbon, Patriot viper 4 16gb(2x8gb), and Q500L case.

Was planning on getting the fuma rev b and replacing the fans with white ll120 for aesthetics. Then seen that it doesn't perform as well as the original but I'm using am4 and I think the am4 bracket for original just makes it the rev b basically and fixes the over pressure.

Running 2600 stock and getting 80C prime95 stock cooler. Hoping to be able to get 4.0ghz to run around 80C with aftermarket cooler. While being able to use the cooler with my next Zen 2 chip.

The Ninja 5 is excellent and would be pretty close to the NH-D15 in performance if you replaced the fans with higher rpm ones like the White LL120's.

It should be able to cool well enough for 5ghz. What's considered quiet is subjective but it doesn't seem particularly noisy. Probably pretty quiet if you're not very sensitive to noise.

https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/deepcool_gammaxxx_l240_aio_review,10.html

https://www.eteknix.com/deepcool-gammaxx-l240-aio-cpu-cooler-review/5/

An air cooler would probably be quieter though especially at idle.

You can generally expect an AIO to last as long as the warranty or ~5 years.
