Apple has iOS 12 and macOS on track to be all about substance

Quote

Apple still hasn’t delivered the iOS 11 that was promised back at WWDC, but the company is already gearing up to unleash the next version.

Quote

The report claims Apple is putting a big priority on stability and reliability more than anything else. Which is good! But it means features like a redesigned home screen, updates to stock apps, and other improvements will have to wait until 2019.

Us Apple users have had a bit of a rough time with iOS 11 (at least up until iOS 11.1) but it seems Apple has decided that it’s time to bring back the “it just works” mentality and has decided to ensure that what iOS does, it does right.

I know I would much rather have iOS 12 be focused on better battery performance, increases stability, and bug fixes rather then adding lofty features and giving iOS a facelift/redesign.

Can’t wait to see what else Apple does with iOS 12 outside of the better overall stability of the OS

Oh, and it’s still better than android ?

(its a joke, don’t take it too seriously)

Apparently macOS is also getting this same treatment

This is good. People really under estimate how many bugs iOS has. I find them every day, and they are mildly annoying. I wish Apple would fix some of this stuff.

I think iOS 11 is the 5s' last iOS release. But Apple is updating the SE but mostly internal upgrades like using an A10 Fusion and 64GB internal storage for the base model  but still retains the 4" display size.

Its really going to depend on what Apple eventually does with iOS 12.

In my view the only real thing holding back the 5s is the RAM. If the iPhone 5s cant take iOS 12 then things won't be so good for the iPhone 6 since that also has 1GB of RAM and the A8 is barely better.

The SE is a baller of a phone in the 4" market. Literally nothing at that size is a good as the SE.

Someone send this wish list to Craig Federighi and Jonathan Ive.

  • Give iPhone/iPad users an option to group notifications in a per app basis that can be dismissed with a swipe and expanded/contracted with a pinch (something Android simply does better)
  • Give us the option to use multiple timers
  • Move camera settings to the camera app like adding a grid or changing resolution instead of going to the settings
  • Manual camera controls
  • Built in calculator for the iPad
  • Less clunky and more refined control center

So is the S9 the Note 8Plus?

From what I've seen it looks like its just going to be a processor bump and a improvement to the camera. Using Reddit logic that is basically the same phone as the S8 because nothing significant is changing on the outside xD

My only wish is for Apple to fix their activity app and the achievements attached to it. If you wanna experience a bug fest I could definitely recommend it.

Mostly the personal challenge badges. The system is broken at best. My Jan challenge is to average 543 active calories a day. The tracker started out Jan first to say my average was above 12k. Since then it's been dropping down and is now sitting at 400. And I calculated my average manually and it says 574.

Also I got the new years badge "close all your rings for a week in January" on December the 31st..

Isn't the S9 supposed to have a "Foldable/Flexible" display? That's a pretty big feature if it's true

Which is Strange because the only issue I really have with it is how High Sierra sees the Bootcamp partition on my MacBook Pro.

Well, everything but battery life, which was a big reason I decided against that when picking my phone. I considered the SE for the longest time (it was on sale for awhile too), but the battery was the drawback I couldn't accept. Would have been a great music player too. (comparably specced, larger i-devices were more expensive at the time, so they were not considered).
