RAM or SSD?

Jasun

I'm planning on upgrading one of the two options stated above (RAM or SSD) and I need some help with this decision. So the question is, should I buy a new SSD or more RAM? I do literally everything on this computer so I would like an overall improvement in speeds in-game and in Windows. I play games like, csgo and I'm currently trying to get into fortnite. Fornite's system requirements says that I should get 8 gigs of RAM and I can probably see why, because my computer likes to eat a lot of RAM, thus causing frame drops in game. I'm also considering a SSD due to the overall positivity on it. Also, will a SSD inhibit the lag that occurs when opening that start menu and searching? (I ask this because I have a laptop that isn't as powerful as this PC but it has a SSD and opens the start menu with minimal lag). All feedback will be nice!

It would really, really, really help to know how much memory is in the existing system, the cpu, gpu, and gaming resolution.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Having an ssd bootdrive makes your whole computer run faster as the load times for anything within the OS shorter. How much ram do you have currently and do you have an ssd at all for your computer?

@Gamerguy207 @Brooksie359 @brob I currently have 4 GB of RAM, i5-2400, GTX 750 (w/o Ti), my gaming resolution is my native (1920x1080) but on csgo, I play with 1366x768 because I'm used to it.

SSD for sure, a 4gb system with a 750 in it won't benefit from more ram, but you will notice much quicker load times compared to a hdd

Try using the PSU Tier List!

How to reset the bios/clear the cmos

That's the thing that I'm debating on...When I play fortnite, the RAM almost maxes out and this also happens with csgo (89% used)... Are you sure that a SSD will help me in games as well?

Cheap af. I'm looking toward used parts because my current system is a salvage build.
